I found I was better off being a student than working full-time too! For council tax you usually need an exemption certificate from your college/ university.

Oh good, thanks for reminding me! :D

  • ... spent 5 hours travelling the other day (with waiting times and traffic!) , not good!

That sounds a little painful, no wonder you're knackered!

  • Had abit of a nightmare with student finance... they messed up again which resulted in me having to extend my overdraft to make sure we could pay rent and all the bills on time :o Went in on Friday in the end although had thought it would be ANOTHER week.

Total spends today: £45 on food shopping. Meal plans for the week ahead:
    Tomato pasta
    chicken salad (OH)
    roast dinner
    fajitas
vegetable fritters with new new herb potatoes

No uni tomorrow so aiming to have a non spending day!

  • ooh, check out my 2 stars! :p He he.

Day off uni today. Will do abit of research for next assignment but have mostly on MSE again :o I also really need to sort the bedroom out as a tad messy... too many clothes and not enough storage! It's getting cold now...am reluctant to turn heating on yet as having those electric heater things that are expensive! I actually want to move abroad  somewhere pretty!

We have a duvet that lives on the sofa when it is cold, and a heated underblanket on the bed: result £34 a month DD for electricity (no gas in flat). Aiming to reduce that this year by not using the heating at all!

We don't have any gas either in our flat. I love the sound of keeping a quilt on the sofa! ooh! Would save me having to drag the bedroom one out. We have a couple of throws in the living room but not snuggly enough! Have a big corner sofa and do seem to spend most of my free time on it

  • Hiya, me and OH are also trying not to put the heating on, and have a nice fleecey blanket on our sofa!

Start uni tommorow, I notice a couple of people say they were better off a student, than working, would anyone mind explaining this? I'm a first year at uni, and really lost. I went to the council office today and collected a form to see if im entitled to a reduction, I also have a bursary which will be used to pay fees, and non income assessed student loan, which works out at 3 payments throughout the academic year of just over £700, I currently work however dont see how I can do both, at least not the hours im currently working, but dont feel I can afford to work part time or not at all???

Any advice greatly appreciated and ziggy sorry for hi jacking your diary!! xxx
