  • Yes think I might have to as even when i've been very stressed have always slept alot. Used to sleep in the day as well but used to get quite bad sleep paralysis (but only when i slept in the day) which put an end to my afternoon naps as it used to terrify me, actually thought I was being abducted by aliens the first time (I do have an over active imagination but it truly was bizarre) :o :rotfl:

Have had the past few weeks off work as due to go back to uni next month but as have worked in schools for a while am used to having the long holidays off and doesn't usually affect me. Might try some kalms or something

  • Ok so the weekend hasn't been great. Didn't get anything done and and ate too many crisps.

Money left from £50 budget (excluding petrol) until Saturday: £15
How likely this is going to be is another thing! Have sis staying at the end of the week so may have to add abit more to the budget

    Things to do today:
    • Tidy flat
    • plan meals for the rest of the week
    • phone ARC and make payment (still have not done this :o)
Going to look for more online surveys, joined valued opinions ages ago and whenever they send me a survey usually says I don't qualify when I fill one out

    For myself and hubby

    Outgoings: per month
    Rent: £325
    electricity: £100
    council tax:£96
Loan: £200- total amount £4000 HIGH INTEREST
Graduate loan £56.00- finishes in November
    Car insurance: £77.07
    Contact lenses: £15.00
    Love film £12.75
Mobile phone and internet: £50ish, but will vary as have been overcharged
Capital one: minimum repayment £10- amount £200
Hubby's debt repayment £150.00 at current

Monthly outgoings=£1091.82 (excluding petrol, food etc.)

Total monthly income for me and hubby after tax : £2204- this is about to change due to returning to uni- still waiting to hear from student finance

which would leave £1112.18 to live on each month

Looking at the figures we should have been able to save/pay more of our debts as there are only two of us and should be able to survive on less than £100 a week for food and petrol etc. which would have left us around £700. Where did this go?!

  • After an evening of being annoyed at the thousands of pounds we have wasted (mostly on bloody food and books) and how we could actually be debt free if we hadn't been so rubbish with money I am trying to again be positive. Had a talk with hubby and he said that yes, we have been stupid in the past, and yes, we could have been to Australia on a fantastic holiday with the money we spent on eating out (me rambling and anyway it's ok for him, he's already been!) but it's the start of our married life and now need to draw a line under it and have a a fresh start.

I could understand it if we went out drinking all the time but we don't (hubby doesn't really drink at all and i'll have a drink perhaps once every few months?!) I have to face up to the fact that we are addicted to junk food and eating out anywhere, really. And the amount of money we have spent on this in the last 4 and a half years is nothing short of shocking
We have made real improvements recently. This really is my LBM. Cooking a roast dinner tonight

Hi ZiggyStardust. Thought I'd say hello to you on your own thread :hello:. I'm also a fellow veggie - good from a moneysaving perspective as meat is actually quite expensive (for non-processed stuff) - but cook non-veggie stuff for OH.

Good luck with your moneysaving adventures

  • Another exciting morning! :p
Have been to Morrisons, bought some salad and bits for dinner. Chicken salad for hubby and big salad for me with garlic balls to share.

Am now thinking I should have got a nice bottle of wine... really fancied one whilst I was cooking last night (I blame Catzpaws for getting me thinking about wine...;)) Cut right down on drinking after uni (used to drink silly amounts as alot of students do ) and actually haven't had a drink since May and am a total light weight now :o
Then again hubby doesn't like wine would be more inclined to open a bottle if he's share it with me

Total spent today: £7.20 which includes some food for the rest of the week. Oh, and a Closer magazine :o

How dare you! :p I wish I was a lightweight... at least nights out/in would be cheaper! I ended up buying a very nice bottle from Aldi last night (their NZ sauvignon blanc which was very gorgeous indeed - if you're into your full-on whites. £5.99 - which is one of Aldi's pricier wines. But, good value for money as more pricey for its equivalent elsewhere.)

    Hope you're having a good day! :j

  • Right, here I am again. Thought I was making progress as I managed to go to bed before 12 last night but am wide awake. Hubby in bed and I'm reduced to watching Big Brother live. And think i'm addicted to this site- think hubby is feeling abit neglected :o

It's not too bad as it's not like I have work to go to tomorrow but do actually have paperwork I should be doing (but have to use my brain and no good at this time in the morning) and feel abit unsettled if I stay in bed until late (and wanted to walk up to Aldi early in the morning) :p

paperwork (I have lots to do)
ring uni if they haven't got back to me
watch repeats of desperate housewives :o oh dear
I should also do some housework...
