:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: - and they were hessian bags for a change instead of the horrible plasticky ones :T:T- but had half as much sand in them so didn;t go very far  - still at least I could lift these ones :D

The idea with sandbags, is that you only half-fill them so not only are they liftable, but they "mould" properly to seal gaps. You use quantity to make up for half-filling them. Perhaps 14 is the new lucky number...

With only 14 of them, you could name them. Something along the lines of:
    Scott Sandbag
    Virgil Sandbag
    Alan Sandbag
    Gordon Sandbag
    John Sandbag
    Jeff Sandbag
    Brains Sandbag
    Lady Penelope Sandbag
    Parker Sandbag

Coz they're just like International Rescue - but on a smaller scale...

    Fourteen sandbags...sheesh...

Where's the rest of the rain...seems God burped and threw it off course 20 miles East..:j:j:T:T:cool:.........sorry Tunbridge Wells :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

All OK here...:T:T:T....well at least I'm sure it was/is but haven;t looked outside.......been on phone to piggie specialist for last two hours....still nowhere near diagnosis :(..but helps to have an outsiders point of view with no set agenda on proving their "favoured diagnosis". They said "don;t assume all your piggies have the same thing - the symptoms you describe could also be broken down into separate conditions for different pigs" and went through all the possible options with me. Very useful.......so now we'll see what happens with the poos....

    Hello everyone
Thank you all for keeping your fingers crossed - looks like it did the trick :T. The collective power of DFW scales new heights in holding back the waters of the stream :rotfl::rotfl:

We got another shedload of rain between midnight and 2am, but I didn;t wait up and went to bed.. I'm pretty sure we had 30mm over the course of last night, but thankfully it didn;t fall to fast too quickly so the stream just about coped ( oops sorry Environment Agency I believe the technical term is "stayed in bank":D)
I vaguely recall crawling to the window about 4am and thinking that there was a lot of water in the front garden so I suspect it rose high enough to breach the low bank areas but not enough to start running towards the house

Regardless of what may have happened while I was asleep, this morning Piggie Palace is dry inside and the stream is back down which is what counts :T:T

More heavy rain showers forecast this evening and tuesday so looks like I'll be staying on alert for a few days but at least everything is organised and in place and the stream is having time to recover between bouts.:D

Toddles off to kiss piggies good morning

Have a good day everyone -

Good grief Wol..... this is dreadful! I'm so glad the stream didn't breach its banks (out of banks sounds suspiciously like an out-of-body event, are you sure the Environment Agency don't deal with aliens too?) can you tell whether the water did get to the garden last night? What are the plants looking like?

Sometimes you got to wonder if the EA *are* aliens...

Though its probably just that they're being staffed by moonlighters from the FSA - they've had a lot of "out of banks" experiences recently...
