Wol's Riverbank tales: Part 3 Restoration

:eek::eek:........Wol jumps......Ooops! Sorry for not reporting in sooner
Hi everyone
:santa2::santa2:
Well the gig was fantastic:T:T:T - tiny venue considering they are on the Radio 2 playlist.......and Numpty they did the song you referred to as a last encore.....:T:T.....(I wonder if they;d play at my bash in July )
Unfortunately the journey into London did not go quite so well - the train stopped twice in order to eject drunken louts without tickets (waiting for police to arrive at two stations)....and I got in to Victoria only to find the Victoria AND Circle lines were not running :mad:...on a saturday night in London :mad:..Finally navigated my way to Tottenham Court Road and the heavens opened and I had no brolley :mad:.....drowned rat or what ....there was train rage, tube rage, crowd rage....all of which reminds me why I absolutely HATE HATE HATE travelling into London ....and I have to do it all again tomorrow for the interview
Despite the horrendous journey in ...there was no booze yesterdayand the Reamonn finished relatively early so the journey back was without incident and I got my last train home in plenty of time.......despite virtually no tube trains ...calm down Wol, calm down
I got up relatively early this morning (8am) only to find the stream rather full and the storm from the Bay of Biscay in full swing :eek: so did my usual trick of frightening the neighbours and [STRIKE]dashing[/STRIKE] flashing (;)) out, dishevelled and dowdy, in my dressing gown and crocs to move the car off the drive :rotfl::rotfl:
Spent a couple of hours "hovering" to see what the stream would do - but luckily, yet again, it stayed "within bank" (Environment Agency were around last week clearing out debris again - just goes to show that apart from the one-off in July 07, most of the previous "regular" flooding events could have been avoided with preper maintenance downstream - EA only got responsibility transferred after July 07 )
Today I had a plan...:T:T.....but it seems to have kind of "dwindled" as the day went on.....:o...which has left me a bit frustrated tonight
I HAVE boned up and printed out a load of stuff for the interview tomorrow.....I HAVE cleaned, fed etc all the piggies (Grommie was horribly wheezy again so needed a 30minute steam bath)....I HAVE unstacked the dishwasher, restacked it again and have a nice clean kitchen....(I resisted the urge to do a load more batch cooking
)....and I HAVE cleaned up and sorted all the paperwork on the dining room table.
.......but I haven;t done the ironing or the client work planned for today which should also have been achieveable in the time :wall:
Problem was, I [STRIKE]got distracted[/STRIKE] self-sabotaged on a "bullying" thread on another Board in MSE over lunchtime......took me ages to draft a post...
.....ooh, and I've just remembered, I assembled an indoor cage for Ginger to replace the rather large cardboard box he currently resides in (it took two hours because the first time I put it together I did it wrong and had to start all over again)...Ginger wanted his nice new fluffy green towel to line the cage - but now I;ve explained that it;s for his exercises on the sofa he seems [STRIKE]less stroppy[/STRIKE] happy.;)
Actually - I don;t know if any of you have seen a guinea pig "popcorn" - but it;s incredibly funny and looks like they;ve suffered an electric shock as they keep jumping and twitching in mid air - but its normal behaviour and means they;re happySo Horace you will be glad to hear that little Ginger has been "popcorning" all over his towel since it arrived :rotfl::rotfl:
(I'm sure Z will think up a suitable smutty innuendo :rotfl:)
It's an early night tonight as I need to leave at 6.30am in order to make it to the interview on time......so as it's now gone 8pm, I need to cook (I don't eat all day owing to having to be gluten free) and then (hopefully) spend a bit of time sending some work emails ready for the morning before hitting the sack.
I am actually feeling rather wibbly tonight - phone call to parents, stuff about bullying, not doing everything I set out to do today.....and a couple of other things including probably interview nerves:(...(especially since I haven;t got my hair sorted and the roots are showing..:o...but hey......why spend loadsamoney for only a 30 min interview - I'll wait and see if I get asked back for the "full monty " next week before I cough up the readies to beautify myself:rotfl::rotfl:)
Errrm......I do have some wine tonight ...BUT... I followed Nargles advice and decanted over half the bottle into the freezer before I put any in my glass :D:A
I have also put on my list for this week to
a) ring the local hotel about block booking 31st July to get a special MSE deal :money:
b) finding out if planning permission required for a tented village - Lula and Horace please note :rotfl:
Was also going to send PMs tonight..but I'm afraid will have to wait til tomorrow now.
George - you have no excuse now (thanx Numpty :A)....it's deffo the 31st July!!:rotfl:
Taxi Hun - have been thinking of you all this week and just want to check you;re OK :grouphug:
Signing off for tonight as I am very very hungry....and gluten-free snacks are hard to find.:EasterBun

I'm fine thanks Wol ...I got the book friday but haven't had the courage to start reading yet and also due to having wisdom tooth out and pain killers being needed no concentration either.

Hello you gorgeous guys & girls
Wol - this may absolutley & utterly amaze you but I am going completely alcohol free in March
I've downed the delicious bottle of sloe gin I was given at Chris Mouse & having run out of tonic, have decide it's time to rest for while. My resistance was on the rise again & it does get so tiresomely expensive when just one glass of wine / gin no longer does the trick.
My tents are at the ready ... also have camping stove from Dads rock climbing era ( circa late '50s to mid '70s) one modern day trangia ( runs off meths _pale_) & various other equipment for snugglyness & comfort, no not more gin :rotfl:
Oh & by the way, should anyone have spare real Glasto ticket, I'm child free & ready & available with car, & all camping paraphernalia that week end.

White rabbits
Good luck for the interview today Wol..you will nail them.
When I saw you say popcorning..I thought you meant pooing:eek: until I read it properly. Am glad that the towels are ok for snugging on the sofa with...sorry it was only 3 that I sent.
Glad the stream is holding its own too.
Well I must away to my bed too as I need to be up early in the morning. Must get some Mr Muscle drain unblocker - the pipes under my sink have leaked stinky water into the cupboard again:mad: and although I used some granules to unblock the sink I have had to stop using them because they produce a noxious gas:eek: (no mention of that on the label either:mad:) so I shall have to try Mr Muscle instead.0 -
Wol....good luck tomorrow Hun....got fingers & toes all crossed for you. Just be yourself & few deep breaths to calm the nerves.
Lula....good luck for an AF March...I stopped drinking at the end of August & have been 6 months now...you will feel amazing !
