Wol - brilliant news about your relative, not everything has to be doom and gloom does it?

Horace - your sh1tbag of a "friend" - are you sure she is going to bring your earrings back? If not you can jolly well shove her cream cake right where the sun doesn't shine.......how dare she!

I've just popped on to say thank you everyone for your support and for sharing in the good news...you are all really valued and appreciated :T:T

......and Horace - ouch.......rear end damage like that is very painful. I do hope you make a full recovery and haven't chipped any more off the tail end ..These mobility things should have registration plates so you can report them for dangerous driving.

I'm now going to have an early night, via the long awaited hot bath (as I certainly don;t want to end up in the same state as a certain piggie was recently )

    Back tomorrow

    xx

P.S. and I shall by then have thought of a suitable reply to your norty suggestion Numpty:whistle:;)

    Here you all are!!!!

I thought you had gone and left us:o I will have to read back from the start too...

Oh and Numpty - apparantly the best way to have a feel is to soap em up in the bath or shower:D
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

aaargh...I have been procrasinating most of this morning...:wall::wall::wall:

I have been asked for interview in a couple of weeks time. It is in central London and it will mean travelling at peak time and will cost me £30.00 including car parking. Travelling time (drive to station, park car, catch train, catch tube, walk to venue) will be approximately 5 hours for the round trip - ie i lose most of a day.

So far, so good...even if I dont get travel expenses reimbursed..

But then they said the inteview was a first interview with a single person and would last only 30minutes :eek: . I don;t think I;ve ever attended any interview that lasted less than one hour (insert confused smiley)

My procrastination is about the organisations possible attitude to staff/employment and whether they are able to support or have any real understanding of the type of person/role for which they are advertising ...

Is it usual or even sensible to expect the high calibre business people they say they are looking for to spend a day of their time travelling from all over the country to central london for a 30minute first interview for a job advertised at up to £50k? Personally i would have expected to be given at least an hour to "sell myself". Surely 30mins just about gets you past handshake stage and checking whether or not I am an alien or have dirty fingernails?....If it's a quick screen they want, then why not do it over the phone? (There is more than one job as they are looking for people based in different areas of the country for field based roles....the skills and experience they are looking for is quite an unusual mix so there won;t be many people out there who will be able to add value to the job - and i am lucky in that i can actually tick all their boxes)

Interestingly these posts are a re-advertisement.....hmmmm...wonder why?)

So am I right in seeing this as a warning sign? Even if the job worked for me in terms of finance, flexibility, time etc (which it currently doesn;t , I was hoping to negotiate a more flexible package as they have indicated in the ad that they are willing to do this).....is this the type of organisation I would want to work for?

I bottled out of posting this on the Employment board.....cos I think I'd get the stock "be grateful you;ve got an interview" stuff....My dilemma isn't whether to go for interview...it's whether the 30 minute interview is an indication that perhaps this might not be a good organisation to work for?

I have finally decided today that I will attend as I see this as a networking opportunity if nothing else (and because I am now very curious to find out their rationale for their preferred procedure ;))

However would appreciate other peeps thoughts.
