Well just a quickie chapter (:p) to let you know all guineas are now nicely recovering from their "snips". All of them are now back outside in their cages again except Charlie who also had the cyst removed on his back. That is taking longer to heal over and fur to grow however he will be moved into his new winter quarters with the others on saturday.

Most startling thing is Beechie's demeanour after losing his procreating abilities......now like a little kitten - snuggles up to you and licks your skin.......:A...definitely "unbounced" and probably a good move ;)

Bandit also has calmed down a lot - have lovely picture of him snuggled up to Numpty with paws crossed and will post in a couple of days when I've donwloaded it from camera.:D

Wish the same could be said for Charlie - he is as boisterous and mischevious as ever.........and unfortunately, still definitely prepared to take on allcomers to be top pig despite his supposed lack of testosterone.:rotfl::rotfl:

Had the neuroconductance studies (NCS) done today. Very weird (and painful) seeing your hand/arm flopping and twitching around all over the place like a fish out of water and having no control over it

Good news - nothing wrong with ulna nerve. Bad news.....he thinks I have developed a neuroma on the hand which is what is causing all the hypersensitivity/electric shocks/tingling/pain/weakness etc etc. This is because a nerve has been damaged and then not healed properly and is now sending out millions of nerve endings all over the place. I won;t know the full story until I go back to see consultant in mid October - but looks like it might entail more surgery, assuming it's not too late to do anything. Worst thing for me was when he said - "but the original injury happened 15 months ago - why have you not been referred to me sooner - "....I looked him straight in the eye and just replied - "let's not go there".

I feel terribly let down by the system and keep wondering if there was anything else I should have done rather than just put my blind faith and trust in the people treating me - (despite all the misgivings I have had that something went terribly wrong day 10 post op and has just got worse ever since - I really must learn to stop over-riding my own gut instincts and make more fuss:o). It is especially annoying to find that the previous visit to the consultant 6 months ago (i.e. the one before I was referred for NCS) was written up by the team as "full recovery no problems":confused:. Thank heavens for the chap I saw last month - the only one who actually listened to me, gave credence to my observations and took me seriously instead of just dismissing my concerns.

So how to proceed - well I've done some googling and I have now found a good experienced hand neuroma surgeon in Essex. I'm going to see my GP to ask to be referred to him for a second opinion, see what the existing consultant has to say and then go and see this new chap. Surgery for me will have to be a very very last resort in view of the potential problems from adhesions and overproduction of scar tissue (apparently I only have to look at a scalpel and I start to develop adhesions :rotfl::rotfl:)

Another hospital visit next week - this time for a colonoscopy and hopefully to get results of the coeliac test. Not too worried about the procedure...just about the after-effects (last time I was given valium as a sedative prior to a procedure I was away with the fairies for the rest of the day but then crashed alarmingly over the next 48 hours - I have never ever felt so depressed in my life )

Aims for the rest of the month - get shopping/spending etc back on track; do business accounts and find out how much tax has to be paid :eek:, complete and invoice all outstanding work and.....my favourite..... start choosing planting scheme for garden.:j:j

Must go to bed now as long journey tomorrow morning to meet with client.

Wol.... you've been through so much. There's quite a bit of good news in your post about the piggies (and pix of Numpty, thats always good) but honestly ... these NCS studies and the damage that they're investigating. This is terrible.

Having met you, in one way its hard to imagine you not being assertive with the doctors and insisting on investigations at an earlier date. But on the other hand, it isn't, at all, and its not just about you, either, its a system as a whole thats let you down, as you point out.

Well, I'm glad you've found someone that will listen to you. And I hope you feel able to start up again with the invoicing and working, its a high stress business that you're in.

Lots of hugs. I hope we can meet up again some time soon when you feel up to it.
