Hi Taxi - just sifted back through this page to get it together in my head what's going on for you ... how are you today? The dreaded HRT was mentioned to me too earlier this week by my doctor, but I turned it down straight away, I'd rather go with the hot flushes for the mo, and try other means. I think there's a few things - cut out caffeine maybe 10-12 hours before you intend to sleep; eat minimum amount of preservatives/additives, etc; regular exercise (nerviness, as you describe it, could just be the normal adrenaline of the day not having enough to do, exercise uses it up and then produces the feelgood hormone, serotonin); taking a break - I'm bad at this, doing too much on the computer for too long ..... thats sort of *my* to-do list, but we're similar ages, or facing similar changes in our metabolisms, at any rate :) none of it has to cost too much, but one thing I'm probably going to pay out for is regular B vitamin supplements (I'm vegetarian) and black cohosh, which is the alternative my dr recommended to me - tho when I googled it when I got home, the first thing I saw was about a double blind trial where black cohosh came out the same as a placebo :( I'll give it a go anyway).

    Hope today goes well.

Glad youre feeling a bit better Taxi, sounds like it was the patches doesn't it. Its horrible when you dont feel ill but not right and as you say nervy really unsettling.
Hope you have a good weekend and start to feel better.

Dunno what they put in these placebos, but they cure all sorts...

Re the sleep, the only thing that knocked me back into a sleeping pattern was the guide camp in summer. Being with a snorer worse than Mr.B and no escape:o..meant i was awake for about 40 hours of the 48 hour camp. Combined with activities, meant i slept for England when i got back and the latest i stay up now is until 1pm.

I'll lend you the snorer if you want...:rotfl:

Thanks all..feeling quite a bit better since not using the patches. So I think those were a major factor.
Karmacat...I'm the same as you with this business..no way do I want HRT!!!...I've decided to suffer the symptoms but do more exercise and eat well.I already eat quite naturally as I have loads of allergies anyway so do cook from scratch.
Wish that they'd hurry up and get in touch about the exercise on prescription.
I got a letter from the accountant so need to get my books sorted as if I didn't know..
Have a whole heap of stuff to get my head around now it's feeling more normal.
Have done my PAD of £10 to Virgin as well.
Have even done some hoovering today and washing and washed the pots.
KC ..how are you feeling as you have my sympathy.???

Ooh, that sounds interesting - are you getting a prescription to join an exercise class? And I didn't realise you had allergies too....

I'm fine thanks - I'm tired, my eyes get very gritty by the evening, but my brother in law's death has made me realise that what happened to him could happen to me. I may not be able to afford to go to Egypt *right now* but I can start to liberate myself from the burdens I've been carrying, and actually *live* my life.

Hope you have a good one, taxi, speak later

Hi Karmacat and all....Yep the nurse put me forward for exercise on prescription the other week...the instructor phoned and made an appointment and then had to cancel so am awaiting another one!!!....
Plenty of allergies ...penicillin,flagyl,naproxen and aspirin, ibruprofen etc and a few other anti biotics. These are the medical ones that I'm aware of....
My body doesn't tend to tolerate chemicals very well..lol

That last bit was very philosophical(sp) and death always makes us review our situation and rightly so.

Hope you have a good day.
  • great to hear that you feel better after the patches...did you feel gittery? My be an excess of nicoteine which was why the lozenges worked for me - the patches made me hyper and dizzy...regardless hope you feeel better soon and muchbetter not o have tabs if you can. I tried hrt for a few days to try and sort my hormones out and felt incredibly anxious (and am not an anxious person generally) but then some people swear by them...well done on the PAD!
