am i getting ripped off here by VM?

    TV:L = £11.50
    Broadband Medium = £18.00
    Phone line rental = £11.00
    Talk unlimited = £7.95
    Talk Mobile = £1.50
Additional set top box = £9.50

Grand Total = £59.45 including VAT

Ideally i think i would be happy if Virgin were to give me a V+ Box installation and monthly fee included for free! dunno if i have much chance of that given my monthly bill?

    any help appreciated

Help please. With the help of this forum I negotiated a deal with VM Retentions whereby my Boadband M only package reduced from £18 per month to £9. Three months in they have said I was given an inappropriate discount and are trying to reclaim the full £18 back to when they reduced it to £9 ie full arrears. Have queried this in strongest terms but have simply got an email reply from a foreign accounts centre saying in very poor English that they are right. Don't have VM phone service. Can someone advise me how to contact someone in this country to take this further please.

VM have just 'phoned and, after some discussion, have agreed to honour the £9 rate until the end of the 12 month period originally agreed.
  • Hello,

I have been with Virgin Media for over two years and been pretty happy generally. This is my package, not sure whether it's the best i could get but would be good to hear if any of you have a better deal...

    Telephone Line Rental: £11.00
    Talk Evening and Wk: £3.45
    TV Size XL: £22.00
    Broadband Size L: £25.00
    Loyalty Discount: -£25.45

So thats £36.45 in total, however I do have the full Sky Sports package which is £19.00 a month. I negotiated this when VM lost Sky one, sky sports news, etc.

    Thanks

Hi, I wonder if I can get some advice.

I've been with Virgin for a good few years now (long out of contract), since the days of NTL, and currently I'm paying:
    • Phone, TV & BB Bundle - £-9.50
    • Telephone Line Rental - £11.00
    • Talk Weekends - £0.00 - I virtually never use the phone
    • Caller display - £1.75 - this never worked, so I assumed they forgot to apply it and didn't bother calling about it, just noticed they'd been charging me all along.
    • V+ Box - £0.00
    • TV Size: - XL £22.00
    • Broadband Size: XL £37.00
Total: £62.25 (occasionally higher, depending on calls, and rented movies)

After looking into possibly switching to Sky because they have so much more HD content, I came across various threads (mostly here and on digital spy forums) on how people manage to bring their costs down by phoning retentions (is there a direct number?).

Can anyone give me some informed advice as to what I can realistically hope to get Virgin to reduce this to (£40-45-ish?), and any specific tips as to what to say/ask for specifically?

Should I "threaten" them with leaving for Sky?

What's up with Virgin and HD channels anyway, I don't understand how they can hope to keep customers happy with 1 HD channel (as opposed to nigh on 30, if I'm correct, on Sky)?? Other than this lack of HD channels, I'm generally happy with their other services.

    Many thanks.

    Can anyone beat this?

    Line rental £11.00
    Talk International £1.50
    Talk Mobile £1.50
    Talk Unlimited £7.95
    Loyalty pack BB/Phone -£19.46
    Fully itemised billing £1.00
    TV size M £0.00
    Broadband size M £18.00

    TOTAL = £21.49

I have a similar package since July 2006 but do not pay for fully itemised billing as 99.9% of calls made are with normal landline numbers.

For 0845 and 0870 numbers, I find out normal numbers through the website: www.saynoto0870.com.

On top of this, I have a mobile contract (which I had to have with the above package) for which I have to pay £10 per month for 300 minutes cross network.

If I have ever to use 0845 or 0870 number, I keep a note of it so ther is no need for itemised billing, which saves £12 per annum. ;)
  • Help!!!!!

    I currently pay £20.50 for:

    XL phone
    M BB
    M TV

    Is this good??

I want to upgrade the tv package to large and also add a V+ box, but Virgin want an extra £15pm in total. This is broken down as £5pm for the V+ box and £11.50 for the tv package, less £1.50 for international & mobile calls which I don't use.

I have been offered the box for £99 as a 'special deal' (as if??) then the second time I rang they offered by a box for £69, with the special £30 discount that they say is the maximum they can offer to their customers??

Please can anyone tell me if this can be beaten somehow.

    Thanks
