I just took the plunge with NTL, nice chap i spoke to, I only have 2mb BB with them @£24.99 a month, straight away he offered me 10mb BB for £4.99 for the first 3 months and £17.50 per month after that for 6 months, told me to call back after 9 months to get another deal.Total saving over the next 9 months of £135 (I think thats right!), very pleased plus 10mb BB too!

Thanks Martin, and all who posted to get me to pick up the phone to them!!

Thanks for tip about NTL/Telewest offer. I've phoned them a few days ago with a request to leave, but they offered me (instead of 8Mb from TalkTalk) 10Mb if I stay with them and 24 hours free local and national calls for £21 per month.

Thanks Martin for ALL your tips. :j

  • Rang Telewest up got my bill dropped from £72.50 to £50 for 6 months..
(telephone, 2 cable boxes and 10Mb broadband)
Also a one off £20 rebate...

The sunny disposition definitely works, I was happy and bright to the guy at the other end. But I had to go through the whole "I'm leaving" rigmarole before he said "ok, but may I ask why you're leaving?" and I gave him the cost of Telewest vs TalkTalk/Sky.
  • I was paying for the £39.99 per month for 2mb BB, base tv and phone plus calls totaling around £51 per month
now I am a very happy man with a total of
    £10.49 telephone with -
    £5.50 tv
    £12.49 broadband (4mb)
with a discount of 8.50 for taking out all three packages bringing it down to £19.98 all in, I am a very happy bunny now for the next 12 months.
I was very polite told them I wanted to give one months notice he asked why so gave him the talktalk info
I did state that I was very happy with them but it just made sense to pay less for the same.
he then transfered me to retentions who talked me round sport-smiley-001.gif
so I need to do the same for my granparents now.

    thanks for the reminder

    Thanks for a great tip.

Have Broadband, TV package and Line rental for £22 per month for six months and Talk 24 free for 3 months (apparently worth £14.95 per month).

There's a 30-day cooling off period when you sign up - probably has something to do with that.

    Before:
NTL line rental with no included calls + 1Meg Broadband = £28 per month

Rang 0800 052 9403, then option 2. I started off by asking them about the procedure for cancelling my account as I had found a better deal with TalkTalk.

    Result:
Line Rental, Talk Unlimited 24 + 10 Meg Broadband = £21 per month

So for £7 per month LESS I get ten times faster broadband and unlimited voice calls! Pretty good deal. Thanks to all on this forum.
