  • Talk Talk "Customer Service" - Don't hold your breath!

They may be cheap, but in my recent experience, the tradeoff is in a complete lack of customer service.

They didn't get my order right the first time, the second time OR the third time. E-mails to their customer services have gone unanswered - I am still awaiting a response to my initial complaint of 15th June!

Once you DO get someone, the ONLY excuse they come up with is that they have been very busy. Does that excuse them for failing to get it right on a total of three occasions???

I have today cancelled my Talk Talk account, even though I have to pay a cancellation fee as I am told that I am outwith the cooling off period of 14 days (even though I was told yesterday that I was well within it).

Sometimes it's not just about saving money - it's about service and value for money and with Talk Talk, there is neither...

Thank you very much for the explanation, Heinz. I've rang Primus and was told "they charge the same rate as BT" - which is not the case as you've explained. As the providers deliberately made prices so complicated and confusing (to make it difficult to compare in the first place), people who do not have the fortunate access to mse expertise just got ripped off.

Hello Heinz, I wonder if you could let me know how to get the discounted rate for 0844 861 numbers. It wouldn't let me set it up as friends & family online. BTW, I'm with option 1. thanks in advance.

    To get the BT rates.

Use the BT ovverride code 1280 and send the calls via BT, not via your CPS.

You cannot add such numbers to your BT Friends and Family list of numbers (but, as 0844 861 numbers are only 1p/minute anyway, that's not of any great concern).

If you pay line rental to BT but use a CPS provider, use the 1280 prefix to 'hop back onto BT' to ensure you pay only the rate shown on the MS Callcheckers (which are what a BT Together Option 1/2/3 residential customer would pay).

Thanks. The reason I wrote was because I rang BT and was told they charge 3p for the number - guess their cs people are as confused as me.

I find it very worrying that BT personnel can't even quote their own call charges when asked specific questions.

The only consolation (in this case) is that they at least quoted a higher price - so you wouldn't have had a nasty surprise when the bill arrived.

Nevertherless, surely they should have immediate access to their own price list for such numbers and be able to refer to it when asked?

I'm very confused. We are moving in about a week's time. At present we have a Telewest package with broadband and tv which is quite expensive. When we move the house does not have cable connected and we dont want it because my son is addicted to online games. So what we want is a basic rental telephone and dial-up internet. I have read all the articles on this but am still confused. Should I get a basic BT line rental with aol dial up? Anyone know the cheapest way I can do this. I would also like to book it in advance because once I move the internet will not be accessible. I wont be able to give an email address either because this will change once we move.

  • I would like to warn any one tempted to sign up for Planet Talk's Primus Saver option 2 Tariff to beware. I have just had to cancel this service as though I got free evening and weekend calls, freephone 0800 calls were billed at 10p each irrespective of call length

Welcome to the MSE forums wolexus.

    Don't cancel, complain.

As previously mentioned, they've had a billing problem and have corrected all those raised with them (and sometimes added a £5 credit to the account in recompense).
