Well if i wasn't an angry wreck before i definitely am now:mad::mad::mad:
Went to the doctors and asked at reception to see either a nurse or midwife the [STRIKE]gestapo [/STRIKE]receptionist asked me why i said because i don't feel right and want checked out.
Her.. midwifes are only for pregnant women and their not in today,
    Me..I am pregnant,
Her..well didn't you get checked out at your antenatal appointment.
Me.. I havent had one yet not seen anyone only a phone call to doctor,
Her..are you sure you are pregnant
    Me..yes
Her.. did the doctor test you
Me.. no HPT doctor said he would sort out a scan asap
Her.. you will get checked out at first appointment
Me.. i have called the hospital it will be 3 weeks to a month before appointment
Her.. we will only do the same tests as them.
Me.. I do not feel right have been dizzy with headaches and cramping i was hoping someone could check my B/P and take bloods to be sure everything was ok
    Her.. have you miscarried before.
Me.. what no.(explained other medical conserns)
Her.. we don't have any appointments today and tomorrow is almost full.
Me.. can i get an appointment for tomorrow then.
Her.. no you need to speak to the midwife first.
Me.. how can i get the midwife
Her.. you will need to call tomorrow.
    Me.. at 8.30
Her.. no 1o'clock you should get to speak to a MW then
Me.. but i want my blood taken
Her.. You need an appointment then.
Me.. so the midwife will make an appointment for tomorrow.
Her.. maybe or they will arrange an appointment for next week.
Me.. (in a high pitched shocked voice) next week anything could happen by then.
Her.. you are not a priority, midwife will see you when she has time.
Me.. what am i meant to do till then.
Her.. if you have any concerns just come in.

Could have screamed at her i was so upset. spent 10min in car crying. So no further on but hopefully i may see a human by tomorrow.

I'd have walked outside then come right back in and said I had concerns.

I'm sorry she was so horrible to you.

omg, i understand they are there to filter people through but it's not right that they basically make an uneducated guess at whether you should be seen or not, especially when pregnant. Since when did they spend 8 years training to be a doctor??

I think the bit in blue is aimed at me as no-one else has mentioned classes recently apart from the lack of similarity across the board.

Really it wasn't, and I am sorry if you were upset. I couldn't have told you that you personally had posted that comment, but similar comments have been posted at least a dozen times since I've been on the thread, and I think this exact comment has been made at least 3 or 4 times by different people in the last 6 or so weeks.

When I had my first child 9 years ago, I had a very high powered job with very long hours (often in the office from 9.00am to 9.00pm with no time to be browsing the internet) and all I had read before my first antenatal class was "What to expect when you are expecting". I made time for, and went along to antenatal classes, to find out the other information I would need to know, and if I'd had time to read up about it all beforehand I wouldn't have felt the need to attend a class to hear again everything I had read. Just about everyone else also attending the antenatal classes had the same degree of knowledge as me. I don't think that meant that any of us at that class were less committed parents to be, or were looking forward any less to the forthcoming birth, than those who do have time in their lives to do private research. That was the only point of the part of my post which you quoted, and I am sorry if you felt it was a personal dig, as I genuinely couldn't have identified you as the author.

It is a luxury even before children to have time to immerse yourself in the preparation for the birth. I am lucky enough now (third time round) to be able to do so, but lots and lots of people don't because of the demands of their lives - whether those are financial, caring, or whatever - and neither make better or worse parents. Obviously once the baby is born, mothers tend to take maternity leave, so that is how they then find the time to care for their children, but some mums need to work long hours up until close to the birth, so they can afford to have longer off afterwards. I don't think its offensive or nasty to make that point, as both sorts of parents will be reading this thread, but I apologise again if you are upset and feel it was directed at you.

I have said before on the ttc thread they are not bothered with pg woman at the docs at all. When i got pg at xmas they didn't want to know. I was even bleeding and didn't want to know i had to ring the sure start center to get hold of a midwife but clinics are only every wed so i couldn't be seen and the phone line is only manned between 9 and 10 every day. I managed to finally get hold of some one but again it was days before i could get a scan as you can't self refer midwife got one as soon as poss but by then it was too late.

I am not saying there is anything serious wrong with you three2be but you know how you feel. Keep trying to get hold of a midwife, ring NHS direct find a local walk in center anything to put your mind at ease.

I went to see MW today heard the heartbeat for the first time :j It was nice but she didn't hold it on for long as she was runny very behind. BH and sample all normal and out the door in 5 mins flat. She said Gosh when she felt my tummy your growing erm well shall we shall. So i guess she comfirmed i am big. Then to top it off mum said that i will have to move my seat back inmy car soon as the wheel is already touching tummy. I can't help being a short a**e

Is is possible to have a home birth after C-section, does anyone know? And is anyone planning one? I'm not planning to have another baby till the current two-weeker is out of nappies (only one person in the house in nappies at any one time, is the rule, unless we have twins - and they run in both our families... ) but it occurred to me to ask.

i guess it depends on the hospital if the will let you. At mine as i had a section with ds i was automaticly consultant led not MW led and automatic birth in hospital VBAC or section my choice. There is a fantactic birthing center that is like home from home and they have all the mod cons, lots of birthing pools and different private rooms. You have the baby a cup of tea and a sarni stay as long or as little as you like. I would have loved to go there but i wasn't allowed because of previous section. I wasn't allowed there with ds as i was consultant led with him as i am small and hubby is tall and they thought i would be able to deliver ( they turned out right)
My friend gave birth there a month ago and she spend 4 hours in the pool and pop out she came very jealous.

Thanks elastigirl. I wouldn't mind the C-section so much if it hadn't been our first baby - I was hoping to confound expectations and pop her out with minimal fuss, and then get on with it at home in future. I guess it'll be carefully monitored births in hospitals forever :(

Heh, it sounds like I'm planning loads of babies. Husband's been delightedly telling everyone that the first thing I said to him when he came to find me in recovery was, "I want to do this again." I think three would be plenty, maybe four.
