Things are getting the better of me. just had a long bubble to myself. going to go to the doctors and ask to at least see the nurse or MW today or tomorrow. I'm reg-us(sp?)negative and if i work things out from last period i could be 13/14 weeks now so by the time i would be seen i could be 17/18 so i want my bloods done asap.
I really don't believe i'm that far along because my periods were erratic but i don't agree with them just leaving me for a month without seeing anyone just because i'm probably allot less. In both my pregnancies i was anemic so that's another thing that should be checked.
Ok going to drive myself nuts if i keep thinking about it so i'm off to the docs and will hopefully have some good news later, and be waiting on blood results fingers crossed.
Hello welcome and congratulations jemimapd3........ignore my rant i'm in a pregnant hormonal huff at my doctor lol[STRIKE]Little bump 3 on it's way[/STRIKE]:j

Hi Jemima
CSH yes that make sense - that's what I was trying to say but you put it quite a lot better
32b good luck with the Drs! Must be so frustrating not getting the ball rolling.0 -

If you are that far along, the doctor or midwife should be able to tell by a physical exam, as the top of the uterus usually rises out of the pelvis at around week 12. So hopefully even if you don't get a scan any earlier, you should get a bit more info about when you might be due.
If you are worried about anaemia, why not take a multi-vit with iron until you are properly into the system? Are you taking your folic acid too?
Did you want to have testing for downs, etc? The combined test is usually done earlier than 17-18 weeks so that might be an argument for getting an earlier appointment. I know though a lot of women who have been through this thread have found it hard to be seen for the first time until they are into their second trimester. I think it is a sign of how overstretched maternity services are in the country and how few midwives there are around. Everyone finds it frustrating and upsetting but relatively few seem to be able to get round the system. Things do seem to improve once you get further into the pregnancy though.
Having said that, I'm not having my care on the NHS at all, so am not very well qualified to comment on how to work the system. I'm only relying on what lots of women here have posted before you.

Its always fun finding more Hanson fans!!! Maybe ive seen her at a show, Ive been to all the shows they have done in the UK (I have seen them live 20+ times)
I better shut up I could talk about them all day lol
haha omg i used to be OBSESSED with them. My bedroom was covered, including ceiling in their posters, and i used to record them everytime there was anything on TV about them. My friend once made me a carving of the H symbol in woodwork class and i've kept it cos i love it
edit - kindof i can't believe you have that tattoo!! I haven't ever looked closely enough to notice lol0 -
I just feel each to their own. It seems to me its a personal decision, and I just don't understand why some mums to be hector other mums to be because they've made, or want to make different choices, particularly if those choices are informed ones. It bugs the heck out of me too when some mums to be sneer at others in their ante-natal classes for not having read as much as they have about the birth process, as we all have different priorities in life, and perhaps the other parents have very full on jobs or caring responsibilities for elderly parents or something, and are shock horror coming to the antenatal classes to learn about these things, rather than to show off their own knowledge gained from books and the internet
Makes me sound like a grumpy old woman and perhaps I am, but the things I enjoy most about reading a forum like this are listening to other mums and mums to be sharing their experiences about what they are going through, but the one-up-manship just leaves me cold. Fortunately though the thread isn't currently too bad for this, though it has had its moments in the 7 months () I've been posting here.
I think the bit in blue is aimed at me as no-one else has mentioned classes recently apart from the lack of similarity across the board. I didn't sneer at anyone, I just commented (if I recall correctly - I had to type the post twice as I lost it) that I was amazed at how little some people had read up, I was learning nothing at the class and so I left. I don't believe for a minute some people are too busy - how would they fit a baby into their life if they couldn't spend a few hours researching them before they are born?
I should really leave this unsaid but if Nicki has her opinion, then so do I and as we all know, we have the right to say whatever we like. I post very infrequently so don't want to turn this into a big row (so nobody else need comment:D) but with 4 weeks to go, my hormones are up and I am currently seeing red!
Nicki, I'm not against you posting anything, I just have a different opinion than you do in this instance and wanted to share it the same way you shared so we can all carry on reading all the different opinions - thats what we're here for as you said!

Sarah_Joanne wrote: »Sugar thanks for the tip about the anonymous ebayer with the dress!! I absolutely love the dress I have so I'm pretty sure i'm going to just wear it whatever happens. It laces up at the back and there is a panel behind the laces which if I get much bigger will not go right across to the other side IFYSWIM so there'll be an inch or so gap vertically down one side which you could see my skin through, but I think that will look ok. Everyone knows I'm pg so they won't just think I've been eating too many pies!!
Mine had the lace up back too for emergencies - they made the modesty panel behind the laces extra wide, which was just as well. When the dress came the ribbon had a looooooooooooong bow at the bottom, but by the wedding day there was barely enough to fasten it together :rotfl:
You should be able to have the modesty panel extended if you want to. The corset back will make wearing it much easier too.
Congratulations to everyone who's produced a wee one in the last few days - all the pictures are absolutely adorable.
Is is possible to have a home birth after C-section, does anyone know? And is anyone planning one? I'm not planning to have another baby till the current two-weeker is out of nappies (only one person in the house in nappies at any one time, is the rule, unless we have twins - and they run in both our families... ) but it occurred to me to ask.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
