Could I ask you all at what point you told your work that you were pregnant?
Last time I told my manager on the quiet almost as soon as I knew, because I'm often expected to carry quite heavy boxes and I thought it would look odd if I didn't. This time though, we're going through a tough time. In my team of 7 people, 1 left a month ago and our organisation won't replace them. Now my manager and another team member have just announced that they're leaving. Now I don't know what to do. They may advertise to replace my manager, in which case they will probably expect me and a colleague to apply, otherwise they may just restructure our department, potentially leaving me vulnerable to redundancy.
I don't know whether to just keep my head down, after all I'm not quite 7 weeks yet, and anything could happen (but I don't want to take any risks just because I've not told anyone)?Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

Hi Glam, are you proper allergic to morphine no matter how its administered? I am only ask cos I take a allergic reaction to Morphine too, but only if its through an IV into a main line, not into flesh (ie in the a$$!)
Just being nosey :rotfl:
csh - I had an operation and they gave me morphine (I think thru IV, was a bit groggy having just come round from GA) and next thing I heard was 'She's reacting to the Morphine - why didn't you notice this?!!' I had big welts all over my arms.
Chasing - thanks for all that info, the MW said we could look at hiring TENS machines so I might look at that as am sure it will be cheaper.
Fitzio - meant to say last night, nice bump pic. OH thinks mines slightly bigger but then Sami said yesterday my Bump looked small
Fishcake - hope you get a scan date soon - nothing worse than waiting!
EA - hope u r feeling better hun and have ur anti-viral medication now!
Redstar - I told my work at 14 weeks. Told them I wanted to get scans and stuff out the way first. I then applied for a job externally at 24 weeks, had an interview at 28 weeks and have been offered it, I start in June 2010. If you are the best candidate then they can't not give u the job just cos your pg.
I wouldn't tell them this early on and just wait and see what happens but def apply for the job - there's nothing stopping you.A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
Thank-you Glam, that's really reassuring to hear. I've been discussing it with DH, but I had assumed that I wouldn't be able to apply for the job as I'm pregnant, or if I did that there was no way they would consider me, so it's great to hear that you applied and got the job. Many thanks for sharing your experience, I really appreciate it.

Cant the bank send you the cheque back thats what our bank at work has done in the past with a big red stamp across it saying "refer to drawer "!!!! or at the least the amount but not sure if that would help !!!
Bl00dy rubbish bank. I rang them as I had 3 cheques go in on the same day for the same amount, so I didn't know which one it was that had bounced, I said I needed to know and wouldn't they send the cheque back to me and they said no, they send it back to the other person's bank, which I thought was odd but then I've never had this happen before so I didn't know. Well OH just called to say it's arrived at our house today! Grrr! Glad I got it sorted but annoyed that the muppet in the bank didn't knwo what would happen (this was after the first person I got through to blatantly didn't even understand what I was asking and cut me off)
Beware of Alliance & Leicester!!!
I told work I was pregnant quite early on. I'd taken time off for the bleeding I'd had and I was meant to be leaving in September to start uni so wanted to let me 2 managers know I was no longer leaving them. My dumb a55 boss decided to tell pretty much everyone he came into contact with though as I found when people started coming up to congratulate me. So I would suggest if you tell those close to you make sure you state clearly it's not common knowledge if you don't want everyone to know just yet!!0 -

Don't know if any of you remember, but I was being filmed on Wednesday for a tellyprog? Well, the scan that day didn't go too well - sod's law when you're on camera. The consultant found problems with the placental bloodflow, and started mentally and physically preparing us for a potentially very early induction or c/s (I'm only 28 weeks right now).
I've just had two days of steroid injections in my butt, with the prospect hanging over us of me possibly being admitted for long-term monitoring.
The good news this morning, at today's (emergency) doppler scan, is that the bloodflow has been restored and Beanie can stay put for a bit longerWe are to closely monitor his activity levels, and I return on Monday for another scan ... then on Wednesday as planned ... then who knows.
Got the impression this is pretty much how it'll be for the remaining weeks - incredibly frequent visits up to the hospital for doppler scans & heartbeat monitoring.
He needs to stay in there - he's not cooked enough yet!
God that would have been scary!
I am pleased everything is ok!

Hey Glam,
Sorry I forgot the other link http://www.bootsmaternityrentalproducts.co.uk/maternitytens.php
lou - DH's family never get excited about when I am in the pregnancy stage - they wouldn't be without any of the little people now though
In saying all of that they are booked to go on hols 4 days after my edd - but I had a funny feeling that they were going to be away around the time I was due. We need to drive to visit them so probably better I have a couple of weeks to get ready for that.0 -
Afternoon ladies.
Back from consultant appointment.
Slight queue jumping from me i'm afraid.
Elective C Section has been booked for Monday 14 September. :j
Very wierd knowing exactly when baby will be here.
Going back to catch up now.0 -

Yum yum yum - very tasty! Watched the film a few months ago and oh yes defo would;);)
CB - thanks for links. It's only an extra £15 to buy the machine so would be more MSE to buy than hire especially as I'm hoping to have more after this one!
WM - Oh wow, you got your date already! I get mine tomorrow, will be the week before you but will be great to have a date to work towards!
Remind me why u r having a section? (Need a nosey smilie)
Well, OH has moved more crap out to the garage for me so I can now make some space for the big changing unit to come downstairs so I can have the smaller one in the nursery (takes up less room). Will then get the boys to move the changing unit so I can build up the small one.
Have handwashed one of my canvas storage things (not supposed to wash so didn't want to do them all in case I ruin them!) so as long as it's OK. I will wash the others later and then I can crack on with getting all these clothes put away.
My black towels are in the wash ready to be packed in my bag - hope to get bag packed by end of play tomorrow (I know I keep saying that!). For some reason, I'm washing everything for myself even though it's already clean!:o
Mum's not told me whether she's coming up on Thursday so am going to plan my week that she is and then if she doesn't I've got 2 days extra to work with!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

This is exactly what happened to me too, after I had breast surgery (enlargement) my whole arm swelled up with big red hives, the anethenitist (sp!) had to come back from his lunch then he put liquid piriton thro the IV to calm it down. Apparently its quite common if its through the IV.
I have to have an IV in for emergency use during labour because of previous eclamptic sezuires but it'll be all over my birth plan that no pain killers are to go through it!!0
