I havent had medication for over 6 years but i am beginning to wonder if i should look into this as it is effecting my ability to care for myself / keep house clean etc and hubby is a bit strained working and coping with me in pain / depressed / tired. I have no family or friends support network or anything due to age, illness location etc.

Jha, I have no personal experience, but I will say don't bottle things up til you get to a point where you feel really, really low. Keep talking to your DH so he can try and understand how you feel.
Try having a chat with your GP and see if he can suggest anything.

Thanks weezle - i mean family and friend are old, poorley or located too far away to provide any type of practical support. I will most certanally love to meet up when i feel a bit more with it.

Nanc thank for sharing that, the problem with eating well is you actually have to want to eat iyswim and want to get out to get the food (unless someone can do it for you). OH does walk me round the park every day in a bit to improve fitness and i have found pregnancy yoga helpful. But when the depression hits its very bad - to the point where i dont want to eat, wash etc, OH says i just turn into a zombie, but when it does lift which i know it will i can carry on as normal.

Beanie - I am very sorry you are feeling low too. The only bit of hope is that it does seem to be cyclical - whether the cycle is a few days or a few months. I have had mine since childhood and I have managed quite a bit in my life so far which is what i hang on to during the bad days.

Thanks to everyone else too for suggestions / support
  • jha when i was pregnant with DD2 i had a lot of problems with the pregnancy (im not going to speak to soon as i dont want to jinx myself this time :o )

Anyway in the end i was diagnosed with antenatal depression and apparently it is actually very common, i was referred to a specialist consultant at the hospital who was used to dealing with depression in pregnancy.

He was actually brilliant to talk to and with his help i decided that medication wasnt the best way for me to go (i was a bit worried about the effects it would have on baby at the time) and i muddled through without though from 29 weeks i was up the hospital 4 days a week being monitored every week before i had her so i was slightly distracted :o

Hope your feeling better soon xx

    Afternoon all :)

    jha- **hugs**

    How are you all today?

Its raining here, and i have no coat! It was sunny at 8am when i walked to work lol. But i finish in 1 hour 45mins! Woohoo!

Had another dream i was having a boy, but the baby was quite ugly :rotfl:

We had no milk so i couldn't have breakfast, so this morning went to the co-op and OH said to have some fruit instead of a sandwhich. So i ate it and about an hour later threw it all up, then on break went and got a sandwhich and was fine :D. Guess the baby wanted a sandwhich and no rubbish fruit lol.

Gosh the not eating sound like me sometimes. When OH is working lates some nights I just sit in front of the tele and can't be bothered to move or make food even tho I'm starving. OH gets home at 11:30 then gets really annoyed that he has to make me food. I put this down to lazyness tho rather than depression as I'm not thinking negative thoughts at the time.

Here's some of the things I like about being pregnant to cheer us all up: Not having to pull in my stomach all the time, being able to wear baggy clothes to work (normally have to be dressed quite smart but prefer being slouchy), having loads of people chat to me and wish me well all the time, meeting loads of nice ladies at antenatal and aqua natal, getting loads of time off work for appointments etc and therefore getting a few extra lie ins, looking forward to it not just being me and OH (plus motivation to make food as I will have to make it for Noogle as well as myself!), maternity leave - no work, every day is different where as when your not pregnant it's too easy to get in a rut where nothing changes, OH helping with the housework and making me milkshakes when I get home from work, not having to do strenuous exercise and not feeling guilty about all the extra food I eat :) There is probably more, I'm going to miss not being pregnant ;)

Does anyone have any views about second hand matresses? I know the general advice is not to use them but I got one with my cot on ebay that was only used for a few months and looks new. Considering it cost £80 to buy new (from Mothercare) it seems such a shame to waste. Was thinking maybe I could just wipe it down with Milton or something (one side is wipe clean). Any advice?

    Hey everyone,

So much has been happening I haven't been able to post but have been lurking and have been sending out vibes as required...

    Jenny,

I can see your predicament... we had to [STRIKE]kick[/STRIKE] move dd1 out of her cot a few weeks before ds1 arrived - I didn't buy a new mattress for him (bad mother?!) tbh I think we did debate it and felt that the matress hadn't been stored anywhere had been used for 18 months (but was for a cotbed - so the expected life was 3/4 years...) and we were skint since we had bought a bigger house so he had somewhere to sleep! When I sold dd2's cot I gave the mattress to the lady that had picked it up - I don't know if she used it (but I know the matress cost more than the cot!) again though it hadn't been stored anywhere dd2 was ready to move onto a bed (for her 2nd birthday) - I wouldn't have given it to her had I not been willing to use it iyswim?

eta: I guess what I mean is that as a parent or parent to be you are bombarded with advice/statistics etc and usually every few years they change/amend the offical advice sometimes it is hard to know what the "right"thing is - although your gut feeling is always the best.

gtg dd3 aka the still nameless one - is hungry x

I like buying the baby things (and cooing over them)
Watching OH as he listens to the thuds on the doppler and responds with similar noises back:rolleyes:
Knowing that we have managed to create a baby and after 12 years together we will be three soon.
The fact the baby kicks and kicks untill i snuggle in to oh to sleep and then it quietens down as if it knows he is there - awww.
