Fish, he's talking about finding out your blood type, and if it is Rhesus negative then you wil need anti-D injections at 30 ish weeks so that if baby's blood is positive and they mix, your body won't attack babys.

    Or something :D

I am neg so i have to have them

Basically if you are reguss negative and the babies blood mixes with yours your body will create antibodies that then think the baby is a foreign object and try to kill it (didn't know how else to put it). if that happens your chances of future miscarriage are increased because once the antibodies are in your blood it can't be reversed.HTH

Plus add the bid that beenie said lol it stops body making the antibodies if blood mixes.

FR, what's your blood type? If you have a + at the end of your blood type then you have nothing to worry about.

If you're Rh negative and your partner's Rh positive, your baby might be positive as well, and since your blood doesn't have the Rhesus factor it makes antibodies to the Rhesus cells that can attack the baby's red blood cells.

It's unlikely that you'd come into contact with your baby's blood except during miscarriage, termination or delivery, so if this is your first pregnancy there's nothing to worry about. As far as later pregnancies go, if you're given the anti-D injection after the birth it destroys any of the Rh+ red blood cells that may have got into your system. Some NHS trusts will administer anti-D during pregnancy for Rh- mothers as a preventative, but that's not necessarily true of all of them.

I am totally wanting lager!!!!!!!!!!! HELP lol I have bought some lager shandy from asda, that seems to be doing the trick lol, it stemmed from when I was in the pub on Bank Holiday Monday for a meal and could see/smell the lager, really made me want one lol

I saw a sterisler in Home Bargins for £8 I wish I had got it now, its this one http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_140_10751_-1_14052_84618_10001_14052 asda had it for £20 or £25 I cant remember now, do you think they will reduce that in the event? or should I go back to home bargins?

When is the asda event again?

Also about the steriliser, I am hoping to breast feed but want to express so DF can feed babybean as well, will that steriliser be ok? I havent really researched these things yet

SJ - Those cakes look lovely :) are you really callled Betty?

Ive been trying to decide when to go on maternity leave, babybean is due 8th march, if I leave on 8th Feb (using 4 weeks leave) then I only have 23 weeks left at work, that is scary! take out leave I have booked and christmas then I only have 20 working weeks left EEK lol

elastigirl - I have everything crossed for that lady you met too!!! I am the same with the nursery, its our dumping room as well lol so we need to work through all the stuff that is in there, get it painted and get it ready for bean, but its just getting round to doing it lol, I just cant be bothered when I get in from work

gymfiend - good luck with teh job hunting :)

helen81 - YAY for your dad being gone :)

nikkit - good luck for your scan

fishcake - I hope it all went well :) I didnt get the option with mine, she never asked me she just said "I am going to take some blood now" I didnt know I had the choice? I woudl have consented but thats weird she didnt ask

Jennynoo - congrats to your sister and baby girl :)

workingmummy - yay for seeing baby on scan and everything being ok :)

fitzio - thanks for that recommendation, Ia m considering getting a doppler

    What is mastitis

CONGRATS Beebuzz :) thats great, sorry I dont know the answer to your question, apart from I am 14 weeks and I have a bump now (which I can see with clothes on but other people cant), so at 20 weeks I am guessing I will def def def be showing to everyone

Gosh I feel like a fatty now reading the replies lol I was a size 14-16 when I fell pregnant, and after 10 weeks I could no longer wear my jeans anymore :(

    bexxie90 - congrats :)

I dont know what to do with my hair either, I like it in a bob but since I got pregnant I cant be arsed to do it every morning, so I have grown it a bit so I can wear it in a pony, but I dont look the best lol (I dont look like !!!!) so I dont know whether to get it cut before birth into a bob or leave it in a pony till baby is a few months old

gymfiend - I am sorry you had a bad day :( I feel like you, I was under the impression I would get the nuchal scan as well (as I am pretty sure the midwife mentioned I would get the blood test that they combine at the 16 weeks appointment) so I was suprised I didnt get it

I am sure you baby is totally fine, and she was just a stupid cow midwife (((hugs)))

3tb - I am sooooo sorry about your sister, the doctors sound like a total joke! yeah and I have 2 coffees a day and about 6 decaff ones

    Tigs - welcome home :)

    nicki - congrats on getting a date-ish :)

EA - YAY for watching Twilight :) I watched it on thursday with my mam, and it was her first time, and I was worried cos she has read the books and Robert Pattinson wasnt her edward in her head, but after she has watchded it, RP is her edward now :) I want to lick him all the time, its like 10 weeks till New Moon YAY

The Flat link didnt work for me EA :(

Stupid question coming up, what does the baby wear with a vest? I have about 15 vests now and I dont know what baby wears with them lol

Beenie - I am the same, there are so many people due soon and I dont want them to leave the thead lol :(

gymfiend - I am pleased you are getting to see someone else :) thats great xxx

Tigs - Thanks for telling us about the birth and little andrew xxx

I think house prices are better up here lol I own my own home but you can rent a 3-4 bed house with two gardens for £600 here

gisi - I think thats an insane time to have aquanatal on, I like to be in bed by 9-9.30 as well

EA - yay on the house

gymfiend - YAY for the scan :) that sounds totally amazing, so sad about someone at OH's work though :(

On the aquanatal front, they are £3 a session where I live, but they are only on thursdays at 11am :( and I work full time

Fishcake - provided you haven't ever put yourself at risk of anything like HIV andyou don't have any not-white ancestors the only really important blood test is the one determining your blood type :) the only blood I had done in this pregnancy was the blood type and blood count but the count was more to keep the MW happy.
If you MW or OH is worried you could always offer to take Iron supplements throughout your pregnancy, tat should keep'em happy :)

are you a negative or positive blood group ,, your MW should give u the blood test at your first check to see what blood group you are , i am A rhd neg , and it means you may have to have the anti d injection ( which i have to have @ 28 and 35 week), if your partner is a positive you will have to have the injection , my MW offered for my OH to come with me to see if he is a positive but he hates needles so i will have the injection anyway ,, my other kids are A pos , AB neg , and B pos , so i already had to have the injection 2 times before , my DS2 is the rare blood group and they told me to tell him when he reaches 18 to give blood,
Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec
  • Hi Gill,

    Congratulations and welcome.

I never had any sickness or cravings. Had a faint metallic taste in my mouth for one day. I was more tired in the evenings from week 5-9, like falling alseep on the sofa at 8.30pm, but other than that felt very normal. try not to worry you might just be lucky.

Oh 32B, I don't know what to suggest. I would have thought that any job was better than none, especially in your situation and the current market, so your OH can't be picky, but they shouldn't stop your money with a pregnant person in the household.

Big hug with the family drama.
