I went to my breastfeeding workshop. It was quite good, but I didn't learn much more than I already knew from being on here. Most of the girls on the parent thread were very pro breast feeding so I have learned loads here which was good. Don't always agree with opinions on here, but it's good to learn nonetheless! The one thing that did come up today that I didn't know was that you can develop lumps in your breasts when your milk comes in. The midwife said you should check regularly for lumps and try to smooth them out by running your hands over the breasts to push them to the fore. She said if that wasn't working you should try an afro comb!!! I wondered why she had an afro comb on the table!
said lumps can appear as far up as your armpit just so you all know :)

anyone know why we cant use a ticker in signature , i can use it in post by adding image but when we go to signature there is no image add link :(

They take up to much space on the screen and on the MSE servers that's why most just put when babe is due in their sig :)
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

But it wouldn't be taking up space on their servers cos it's hotlinked from the ticker site :D

Though i take the point about space on the page, netmums (i think?!) is overloaded with them and it looks messy

  • Hi Guys

I found out this morning that I'm pregnant! :j

Been trying for a year and were 3 days off our first infertility clinic session so was something of a surprise!

My first (of many!) questions to you knowledgable ladies is how big will I be mid-December? A due date predictor is giving late April as the date, though I always had irregular periods so this may be slightly out. So I guess by then I'll be about 20 weeks.

I only ask as this is when OH & I are getting married! And I've already bought my dress :o

By coincidence am going to the dress shop tomorrow so will talk to them about possible ways to take it out a bit... I'm sure I won't be the first blossoming b2b!

Will add myself to the due date list after first scan when everything is a bit more certain, in the meantime will be reading as much of this thread as I can to get uptodate with the stories...

    Apologies for long first post!

    welcome beebuzz!!

when you get a definite date we will add you to the list, unless you want to be added now and then your due date can be amended later??

Welcome beebuzz!! Size depends on so many things. At 20 weeks i didn't look visibly preg, i.e to a stranger, but some people have big bumps really early, Sarah Joanne posted a 15wk pic and it's round and definitely preg!!

They say your first shows later, and i guess it might depend on how skinny u are to start with, i've got a bit of chub so have hid it well til now lol

    Congratulations!

    And welcome to our world!

It is really difficult to say how big you will be. I still fitted into my normal jeans at nearly 6 months and have only now just ballooned, but I did a lot of exercise before getting pregnant and was quite thin. Also, you don't know how your appetite will change.

Most wedding dresses can have a panel sewn in the back but don't always look as nice, so you might want to go for a coat, bolero type thing. Depends if you want people to know :-)

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

My mate was miffed that she had a milky pit when her milk came in.

Yes, she has a milk pore nearly in her armpit!! she had to wear a breast pad wedged under her bra strap.

I've got one right on the outside of my aerola, but milky pits wins!

Beebuzz - this is my bump at 20 weeks if you want a general indicator.
I am normally a size 10 on top and 8 on bottom.

Back from haircut - it looks fab and I'm hoping very manageable so I can literally wash and go :D

Got my meat in ASDA ready for cooking but was gutted they had no curry paste for me to start batch cooking tonight! Oh well, it's a jar tonight and hopefully I can get paste tomorrow.

    Faye - I have PM'd you back!
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?
