    Morning ladies,

Congrats to Fitz on baby Alfie :) Gorgeous name, I love Sidney!

Elasti - don't worry about the nursery, ours is in a similar state! We've 2 spare bedrooms, one large and one tiny, and still debating (in a slightly heated way) about which room baby should have, though I'm secretly hoping we might move before 'it' arrives (nobody ever called me realistic...!)

SJ - cakes look gorgeous, the topsy turvey one is brilliant! Would it be totally wrong to have cake for breakfast? :o
I'm stuck at St James' because I'm under a consultant there - I used to be under one at the LGI who was absolutely brilliant and I just can't get on with this new one. Unfortunately for me, she's the only one who specialises in this particular condition and pregnancy, so I am landed there and I don't get on with her. I've heard mixed reviews of St James as a maternity unit, but then I've heard the same about the LGI, I think in my mind I presume the LGI will be better equipped and I'd have a doctor who I trust, but I really need to just get over it. I'd love a homebirth but it's out of the question :(

I love Bailey's...might have to pop into Netto, it'll probably have a reasonably long shelf life? :o

I'm popping out now to try and find a job, temping agencies here I come (woo hoo), talk about being made redundant at the worst time ever, I'm really not sure of what angle to take, tell them I'm pregnant or just say I only want a short term contract so I can keep an eye out on jobs I'd like, rather than sticking with something I need? Wish me luck!

Have a lovely day ladies, xxxxxxxxxx
    Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j

Morning! Just catching up on a mountain of e-mails after over 2 wks off...wish I could be back in bed! The ankles are slightly better but still not very sexy. Guess there's nothing for it other than patience!

elasti - don't dispair, our 'nursery' is the same as yours. We also live in rented, so doing it up isn't much of an option besides getting some removeable decals and buying a rug or something.

Need to get my tummy re-used to normal eating patterns (I tend to go insanely piggish when back in the US b/c there's so many treats I miss!) as it's only 10am and I'm already starving :p!
top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

would like to win a holiday, please!!

As for breathing - we have been told to breathe normal but focus on the breathing (none of this panting breathing). She said to visualise the word
    RELAX
Breathe in on RE and out on LAX
They only get you to pant to stop you pushing, so not used very often
Well I'm hoping for a home birth. I have a friend who works in both Jimmy's and LGI and she has advised me to go to Jimmy's if at all possible. How come you want to go to LGI?

I'm back at the midwife tomorrow so hoping to discuss HB with her then
Jimmy's is one of the best hospitals in the uk :D My sis used to work there(not in maternity)
Your cakes are fab!! can I ask on the bee ones what is the hive made from? it looks like meringue to me but I'm thinking it could be buttercream too.
I'm thinking of making the cake for my latest's Christening, gonna practice my baby in playdoh first - should be fun lol (I'm soo not artisticly talented!!)

Have you seen the cake pic posted on the parent thread? http://www.hollyfordcakes.com/all-cake-images/babyshower.jpg

    Just caught up..

Fitzillian- CONGRATULATIONS on the birth of baby Alfie!! :T

Glam, you thought your average age on that name website was bad..mines 85 years!! and 375th.

Aless- Nice to have you back, hope your ok xx

Sami, LOL that cake is well funny!!!

SJ, ohhh will go have a look at your cakes now

Had day out yesterday, went to car boot at Brid which was pants..lots and lots of stalls but wayyy over priced! One stall selling baby clothes wanted £1 per sleepsuit/vest!! So didn't buy anything! After that we drove on to Scarborough and had a lovely time, weather stayed gorgeous all day so kids played in the sea, we walked round Peasholme park, went round the amusements, and of course ate far too much junk!! Didn't get home till 8.30pm and noticed I'd got a sunburnt chest! Feet were throbbing like mad and the car journey was really uncomfortable, could feel little feet in my ribs the whole time.
Work is quiet at the mo,so I didn't have to go in today, thank god cos I need today to recover from yesterday.
I'm finding that most nights I'm starting to have to get up for a wee but just once,so I thank myself lucky.

Yay for 1st September..means I can now say that Im due NEXT MONTH!! (I know the end of next month and I'll probs go over due date so will end up being November..but anyway!)
Oh yeah, and MY DADS GONE!!!!! :D:D:D:j:T:beer:

Had more to say but as usual I can't remember! Hugs to those needing them xxx
love my little man he is amazing :j

    Hi

I didn't use any gel with mine but that's probably why I could never hear anything!

As for the internal (or dildo scanner as EA calls it) - they wouldn't use it if there was any risk to the baby. It is a scanner which is long and thin and has an eye at the top, the insert it so that they can get a better view. They put a condom on it and you have to lie on the end of a bed with your knees up.
Just relax and you'll be fine. Good luck xxxx
