Glam can you get away with (if you have any) a bit of nesquick in the milk of your breaky? That's how I trick Chris when he is being a PITA wanting naughty cereal :D

i'm not allowed any cereal too much sugar in it. Last time i had cereal my blood sugars were over 10 and they are supposed to be less than 7.8.

Congratulations Fitzilian! Are you going to get the tongue-tie sorted? Apparently it's quite easy to fix and would make BF so much better. Can't wait for BS.

Congratulations Fitzilian. Glad all went well.

Freak out alert from me - don't read on if you are bored with my traumas already.

We went out to Hampton Court yesterday to watch a joust, and I had a show at lunchtime, followed by contractions starting. I know that you can get a show a few weeks before labour starts, and the contractions were not as painful as they were when I was in labour with DD, but by 4pm when we were in the car home they had settled into a very regular pattern, of 9 mins apart and lasting about a minute.

When we got home, I wasn't very sure what to do, but because I'm only 35 weeks we decided we should phone the obstetrician just in case it was a sign that I might be at risk of going into premature labour. He's not NHS and is supposed to be available 24 hours a day through the hospital, but when we phoned the switchboard said he only worked clinic hours and she would leave a message on his secretary's voicemail for him to call us back on Tuesday . Bearing in mind we have an antenatal appointment on Tuesday anyway, that didn't seem like a huge amount of help.

We ended up going through to the Labour Ward to ask what they thought, but as soon as I explained what was happening, even though I said I was sure I wasn't in established labour, they said I had to drop everything and get to the hospital at once. When I got there, they stuck me on a monitor and the midwife examined me tummy, and said that if there were any signs at all that labour was going to start that I would have to have the baby that night and it would have to go to special care. She also said that the baby had definitely turned and was no longer breech so I didn't need a c section :eek:. OH was out in the reception area as we had had to bring the kids with us as all our friends who had offered to look after them in an emergency were not around because of the Bank Holiday and we have no family within easy travelling distance. The midwife was so sure that the baby had turned and that I was going to have another VBAC (despite the fact that a major element of the decision for me to have a c section is the psychological one) that she actually went and got the ultrasound scanner to prove to me that it was no longer breech. The scan showed though that she was wrong and that it is still breech, and then she said that she had already written in my hospital notes that baby was head down, and that the final decision on how the baby was to be delivered, whether breech or not, would be made by the RMO on call (not my consultant) who was on his way to see me. He did a vag exam and decided it wasn't established labour (which I knew already) and I could go home on the basis I would have complete rest until I saw obstetrican tomorrow, and come straight back in if contractions intensified.

I am now completely and utterly stressed out. The midwife wasn't unkind or unpleasant but she had a very strong agenda for a VBAC. I had only really been managing my stress levels at all on the basis that my consultant had assured me categorically that if I went into labour spontaneously that there would be no question of being pushed into trying a trial of labour and I would definitely get the section. Baby is definitely still breech but it says in my notes that its head down, and that's how it appears on midwife exam, so if I go into labour for real tonight, I need to rely on the fact that she corrected the notes after the scan, which I'm not confident she did. I also need to rely on the fact that the hospital will be able to get hold of my consultant if I need him before tomorrow's appointment. Midwife did very helpfully tell me that breech babies often come much earlier than expected

Contractions are no longer clockwork regular but they are much stronger when they do come, and really make me wince. No signs of waters breaking though, thank goodness. I'm hoping we will hold out until we see the consultant again tomorrow but I am very very stressed again, and I am seeing the psych on Wed and am also worried that if my stress levels stay this high that I'm going to come under huge pressure to take some meds to bring them down, which I really really don't want to do either before baby is born, or at all really as I wanted to try and manage the stress naturally so I can breastfeed. I did think that I was succeeding OK with this, but the fact that all of the things I had been told couldn't happen DID happen last night when it was a false alarm, is making me realise that if any of them happen in real labour I won't cope.
