A friend brought them back from Florida. No idea what shop they're from, I'm afraid.
Glam- yep I had to have 28 wk bloods last week ahead of anti-D so I guess we'll go through results of those.
Just working out our finances for when I'm on SMP. We can just about break even once everything's paid for. Baby's savings should pay for any baby bits we need but I think it will be a bit of a culture shock. Well worth it though, then hopefully I can easily afford to go back three days a week instead of full time if work agree :j.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
meant to say with all the excitement (not) of being in hospital, when we were in the room on the dleivery unit 2 babies were born!! one boy and one girl! we heard their first cries!!!
and and.... one of the nights i was in, a lady had her baby in the car-park
story was in last thurs manchester evening news but i cant findit on the newspaper website!'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -

need somewhere to gather and put all my emotions and thoughts at the moment together. i am being positive about meeting with mw tomorrow as she has been the one constant so far (with medical people) so we have built up a good rapport.
Tia- i think too epidural, because of the lowering BP effects. but i didnt know you can have one which lets you move around!
i know the other things...
bath- yes please
birthing ball- i'll try it
skin-to-skin as soon as possible
injection for me to help placenta come out quicker
vit K injection for baby
breastfeed asap (apparently some babies suckle straight away)
hubby smoke breaks when he wants (have said i will not mind but he cant come back in the room stinking of cig smoke as i dont want baby's first proper breaths being stale cig smoke... yuck!!)
* i was listening to the questions midwives were asking the ladies being induced during my stays in hospital so i have had time to read up a bit and decide*
Apparently there are also 'wireless' monitors too, don't know how widespread they are though but you could request periodic monitoring rather than continuous.
How about getting hubby to take a 'smoking' jumper that he keeps to put on for his smoke breaks and takes back off again before he comes in? He can keep it wrapped in a plastic bag. Handwashing and mints would be good too.
DS1 rooted by himself during skin to skin, I think I offered Amber the breast in recovery, but skin to skin is strongly encouraged to help breastfeeding so no problems there.0 -
does anyone else feel like their baby is kicking directly onto their cervix? i swear i'm gonna go to the toilet one day to find some toes sticking out :rotfl: It's a strange feeling.0

thanks tia
hadnt hought of a non smoking/smoking clothes option for him..
mind you thats if he lasts all the way to the actual birth lol!!
when i first went in on the sat, they hooked me up to a machine that checked my BP automatically every 15 mins, it was also monitoring baby at the same time, but i will ask about not being hooked up constant so i can move freely'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -

Just gone back to the bag I started packing at the weekend to do a few more bits. I'm consulting about 3 different lists to do this! But none of them mention whether you need to pack baby wipes just nappies, should I take a pack? This packing for every eventuality really is going to see me stumbling through the hospital doors in labour with about 3 holdalls full of stuff!

Hi Bear Family, I thought I read that in hospital they just use cotton wool and water instead of wipes, but gawd knows where I think I read this, couldve been well out of date, I will await more replies with interestBaby Toby born 17th Nov 09 :j0
