CB- CONGRATULATIONS!! :j I am another one who had to read your post more than once!!
Gisi-Oh them little outfits u posted are so cute! But noticed the writing on one of them reads..my mane man...er..gisi...is there something you wanna reveal to us? hehhee. If you have a girl, I'd gladly buy that outfit off you if you want?
I said I was gonna start packing my hospital bag (incase I need to be transfered from home) last week when I got to 30weeks. I haven'tbut have had alot going on in my head just lately so Ive let myself off.
Xmas- LOVE your bump!! I must take another, last one I posted was 3 weeks ago,Ive definatley grown since then according to my tape measure.
Glam- sounds like you had a great time at parentcraft :j
Maternity leave..I went in this morning with the intention of giving my notice to start it in 4 weeks time, taking hol pay remaining before that,so leaving in 2 weeks really. But when I told my boss I was gonna do it she said she had been thinking and had an idea if I was interested? Basically she suggested I swap my Monday shift for Thursday as Mondays tend to be alot more harder, more departs to do (work in a hotel!) than thursdays (true) so that would prrobably enable me to carry on for abit longer as the work would be easier for me to manage. I said yes I'll give it a try for a few weeks, see how I manage then if I am still struggling I will give my 2 weeks notice then. She said that if I did this,I'd only have to work 1 weeks notice instead, so thats good. Im taking the full 9 months off and possibly the other 3 months unpaid- all depends on this whole remortgaging to buy my dad out of the house situation..we might be relying on my wage to help with the increase in payments, will just have to wait n see, but I don't have to say now anyway, aslong as I give them 8 weeks notice of wanting to return to work.
Well, the situation with my dad is no better, but no worse either. Atmosphere was still very very strained to say the least yesterday and when hubby got in from work we had tea then took ourselves off upstairs out of the way. Then today I got in from work and my dad tells me he's going to Leeds to stay with his brother untill Friday..but he HAS to come back Friday no matter what as he has an opticians appoinment to go to. That to me makes me think that he knows there is a problem here and he has to get away NOW to give us some space! Anyone else think that or is it me wishfull thinking maybe? Anyway, me hubby and kids have a few days stress free at least :j:j:j speaking of hubby, I'll have to go shortly to pick him up from work, then we going shopping. Whoever mentioned that Tescos are selling TT breast pads half price at the mo THANKYOU, I'll make sure I see if I can pick some up while Im there.
Oh, and welcome to the new members!! Ooops sorry for such a long post!love my little man he is amazing :j0 -

Hi Princess
It is all done via the hospital and delivered by the midwives. I assume each hospital's 'needs' are different (or some expect you to buy things) but my midwife said I wouldn't need anything (was going down the shower curtain route etc). Now it has arrived, I can see that, from my hospital at least, I really don't have to get a thing. It was delived in a big black bag (think cricket bag or similar) and the midwife went through everything with OH and put some of the meds in the fridge. I got home ten minutes later but think it's all self explanitory (and I don't expect to go so quick that the midwife won't make it)
I keep promising to put pics on of various things but never get round to doing it! Will try, I promise! xxxMy baby girl :kisses3: September 09 :heartsmil0 -
Jam i asked my midwife about that and it would appear where i am they dont deliver anything they bring it all with them when you call them. I dont mind means i havent got it all laying around the house especially the meds with the kids in the house only thing i have to store is the pethadine that the dr prescribed for me. Cant help feeling like i should have some things here but i have disposable mats for if my water goes and a shower curtain for the floors/sofa. It amazes me how different the authorties are over these things. :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

We just gotta keep the cats out of the bag! lol It's nice it's here so I know I don't have to buy anything but it'd not the smallest bag to store!
Are you leaving your pool inflated and ready or letting it down again til you start? Not sure what to do. Will it get full of all bits? Could put a sheet over it I suppose?
When midwife dropped off the kit she looked at the pool and told OH she hopes shes on call when I start - bet they say that to everyone though lol By the time I got home at lunch (worked from home this afternoon to wait in for the stuff) my OH had the pool in place along with fairy lights, fan and cd player. Tis quite nice really :rotfl:
ETA I only allowed gas and air at home - no pethadine for me.My baby girl :kisses3: September 09 :heartsmil0 -
My pool is semi inflated on its water proof mat in the back room it will be left like that until needed then inflated properly and filled, in a day or two i will put the other things i have in there like my clean towels some seating for the midwives my pads for body spillages so on so forth. I was told by one of the other ladies who had her home birth go smoothly it is surprsing how little you actually need.
Ooh never thought about fairy lights thats sounds pretty may have to dig the xmas lights out hehe :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -
(((huge hugs for Jillie)))
I spent my pregnancy with Amber terrified that something would happen, I figured I was so damn lucky last time that this would be the one that got me. But it went well and here we are all happy and healthy.
Nobody can tell you what will happen, but you do have to get someone to talk everything through with you and have a realistic birth plan. Decide at what point (if needed) you would like a section to be discussed and stuff like that. You know your labour will be fairly medical with doctors and no birth pool, but it doesn't make it any less.
And at the end of it all, when that baby is placed in your arms (even if they are whisked off to special care and you have to wait days) it really is all worth it. Even sitting in special care being told who can and who can't come visit your baby is worth it when you get home!
Finally, if it does go pear shaped, talk about it afterwards if you need to, you know where you can find us folk who have been through it to talk to if you want to. And that goes for now too.0 -
thanks tia
i have appointment with my midwife tomorrow and am planning to get the birth plan sorted to some degree. the hard part is having to see a Dr at the ante-natal clinic at the hospital (and its always a different one) who is meant to 'manage my care' and then go to see my mw at my own GP who has to go by what the Dr at the hospital says. But the Drs at the hospital for whatever reason, just say just ring delivery suite when you start labour! but i want/need a more definite plan of action than that.
think for me the way i want it is...
gas,air if possible- dont know if this will work with my BP
if not then
pethidine or similar so i can move around freely (although i will prob be hooked up to monitors so dont know bout walking etc)
if not then will have to be epidural. as this lowers BP i think they will encourage this one
c-section- dunno, Dr said yesterday i will only need one in emergency
so can i put in big writing on top of birth plan..'Please do whatever is best for mum and baby'
jut writing that last bit has made me cry...'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -

Awww hun!
They probably will recommend an epidural, but you can now get ones that will let you walk about so not all bad news.
Mine was more or less that... 'Whatever is needed at the time'. Infact most of the questions I didnt even answer as I knew it wouldn't apply to me.
Just relax and go with the flow.0
