My OH was a bit put out with our first baby, she must have been about 2 weeks when he said to me to put her down for a minute and sit with him for a while. must have been a shock having my attention 24/7 then suddenly all communication was get me a towel please hand me that nappy. lol
My brother generally hates other people getting attention - he's the baby and would like it to stay that way, He threw a bit of a tantrum the day I was awarded my PhD because nobody was talking about him and our wedding photos all have him looking like a serial killer's mugshot :rotfl:
It must be hard for him, but fortunately he lives in another country and can be relied on to leave me alone most of the time.
If Husband had done that there'd probably have been a verbal smack upside the head for him. But we're managing ok - so far mostly by shared mockery of my brother. We're going to hell.
Edit: harley - I asked the family last night which of them was going to do the dishes. You'd think I'd have asked for the moon on a stick! They brought their laundry from the hotel too and it wasn't till I was making them tea, washing their old dirty cups, folding their laundry and wondering why they weren't placating the screaming baby that it occurred to me that maybe something was wrong.

I just know that a lot of my extended family don't have the social skills to know when they have outstayed their welcome so I will have to be pretty blunt in telling them that I need to sleep/feed/eat, whatever.
I got to the ward after the birth and had not even got to the loo or had a shower after the birth and his family turned up and refused to leave and the nurses told me to either get rid or bring them in. sent OH to send them off and they barged by him and came in.
I was so angry i could see all the other mums getting showers and hair done dressing their baby's etc and i was still covered in blood, it was so embarrassing. They fell out with me that day for not being happy that they had come to see the baby. But at least i got piece at home for a couple of weeks lol[STRIKE]Little bump 3 on it's way[/STRIKE]:j

I can't believe it's been 5 days since i came on. I really must have been poorly. I wasn't oinking so that was good. Came back to a nice knew board and some newbies hello :hello:
I felt better yesterday and ds had been asking to go swimming all week so i took him. I was quite brave trying to haul my fat butt and huge tum into a normal swimsuit. I will def need a maternity one when i start aqua natal.
i am going out next weekend with a group of old friends and it will be the first time since i told them i am pg and have grown since i last saw them. I haven't a clue whatt to wear. I live in my mat jeans or a casual dress but they aren't going out clothes. I don't know what to wear. One of my friends dresses more and more like charlotte from sex in the city. i can't keep up with fashion at the best of times let alone now but i want something trendy but cheap any ideas?

Just wondered if anyone here has suffered bleeding in there pregnancies and gone on to have happy healthy babies? I had a small bleed with Ben my son around 6 weeks last time and he's now 5. But this baby (potentially babies) are really taking the biscuit.
I'm 6 weeks according to sonographer yesterday and I started bleeding on Wednesday night, not a lot but enough to be concerned so went in yesterday and had a vaginal scan and they said baby was ok (one heart beat found) and there was no explainable reason for the bleeding that she could see.
Well when I go to bed at night Im fine there's no bleeding. but when i wake up and am walking about etc then it starts again and there is a fair bit but its almost likes its all pooled together in the night and then it comes out in the morning once ive stood up and it normally takes a little while to stop.
I'm in no pain at all though. I rang the doctor yesterday and he said it could be implant bleeding if it had hit a vein (but wasn't sure it would be this much) or it could be my cervix or simply that they had damaged something with the vaginal scan yesterday because when she checked my ovaries she was really pushing and it hurt.
Sammy - This pregnancy - i had spotting around 4 weeks and i mean tiny ammounts of blood over about a week. then at around 7 - 8 weeks i had a bleed (about an eggcup full) which stoppped within the hour but the next day i had an internal scan and i had spotting when i wiped for about a week after as far as i am aware the first bleed was implantation, the seccond was a blood vessel or polyp bursting in my bits somewere but no were near my womb or cervix and the third bleed was where she had "rubbed" the cervix a bit doing the scan. The baby is doing fine so far and i have a 20 week scan on wed - i will let you know what they say.
Previous pregnancy - i had spotting at 8 weeks with severe cramps which turned into a heavy bleed quite quickly - this pregnancy didnt continue.
The best thing you can do is try not to worry and make full use of your early pregnancy unit for help. You could call them and say you are bleeding again since the scan and see what they say. Its a bit more complicated to figure out whats going on for you love too because of the 2 beanies in there.
Just take as many hugs and as much sticky bean dust as we can offer :grouphug:0 -
elastigirl what about one of those wrap dresses they look really smart and lets face it you could wear a bin liner cos all anyone will be looking at is the bump:rotfl:
Or if you are near a peacock they had lovely maternity stuff in and had a sale at my local so may be worth a look.

Don't worry about it. This ex-size 8 Cosmopolitan used to look at voluptuous pregnant ladies with the green eyed monster sat on her shoulder. You are doing something wonderful and there is every chance that all those skinnies are wishing they were you.
As for looking lovely, there are options. I'm sorry, I can't remember how far along you are but I'm guessing only a little if you can still squeeze into an old swimsuit. How about boohoo.com, they are cheap at the best of times and often have a sale, go for something floaty as they don't do maternity as far as I can remember. Or ebay, I had loads of maternity (brand new) delivered for under £5. New look and Dorothy Perkins also have things but they are less cheap. *I wouldn't bother with Peacocks as the quality is absolutely atrocious. I am wearing a pair of their jeans at the mo (I'm about to go and have my hair dyed so wanted something on that won't matter if it splashes) and I have spent the morning pulling them up, the stitching around the belly band has gone and the jersey band has loads of holes in. This is about the 5th time I've worn them.
I've just had a sample of little swimmers delivered. They have Nemo on, and the cute little turtle. I love them. Baby and I will be swimming just so she gets chance to wear them, lol
Right, off to get pretty, catch up later
xxxxx
ETA: sorry, cross posted with 32B, maybe I have just been unlucky with everything I've bought at peacocks. Lets face it, it wouldn't be the first time, would it. LOL

Elastigirl, I'd check the charity shops for an empire line dress or a top or a wrap dress. Maybe wear the dress over trousers if you feel more comfortable that way. I bought a wrap dress in nonmaternity from Gap and wore it till about 35 weeks.
Remember that all the skinny women are looking with envy at your bump. I certainly did before I grew my own - and now I'm worried about shifting the remnants so I can go back to envying other people'sOrganised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

WM-I Have started xmas shopping too! And I've mostly decided what everyone is getting : grandparents this year they are getting DD and baby handprints in clay on a plaque type thing. Theres a pottery place just up the road that does them. (Obv don't have these yet cos I need a baby handprint lol)
i love these!! this is what i'm getting my mum along with a lovely picture of baby.we dont have a pottery place near us unfortunately so i;m hoping the little kits you can buy from the likes of argos will do the jobWhat happens at all these maternity classes. I know i'm on baby #3 but believe it or not i have never been to any classes. Think that may be where a bit of my dislike for the MW's comes from.
So i have no idea what goes on at them except some take you round the hospital the rest is what i have seen on TV how sad :rotfl:
they all do pretty much the same-
week 1- early stages of labour (when to ring hospital and go in)
week 2- established labour (when you are in hospital) and pain relief
week 3- feeding, changing, bathing (ideal for nervous dad 2 be)
week 4- tour of delivery unit (mostly done at evening as any inductions, planned sections are done during the day)'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
morning all!!
had a great night last night!! :j
friend managed to spill my diet coke all over me before we even got to the presentation. washed it mostly out and dried under the hand-dryer in toilets..:T
good conversations with some great friends. 3 glasses of wine and soda (is a social club venue so wine is 125ml and lashings of soda water) with a diet coke/lemonade every other drink.
hubby met us after and then we had a takeaway (i was starving) and in bed for 1.30am
said he really enjoyed the class yesterday and felt more reassured bout everything . he took notes as well (geek) :rotfl:
planning an easy day today, was going to 'declutter' our bedroom but cant find the motivation. also need to go to asda but its chucking it down so may hold off till hubby gets home. as i dont want to get wet'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0
