    Hi Buffy

Good to hear you sounding more positive :D

  • I think the ranting on here helped, plus all of the teachers I know are having the same problems - too much work, too much pressure, incompetant/cruel management

My life priorities have definitely changed over the last year, A place I loved has become a huge problem with few good points. It has taken a long time to realise that it is them NOT me that is the problem.

The support from you guys has been invauable tho, I hope you all know how much you mean to me. Without this place I dread to think what mess I would be in now.

Today is going so quickly! I have done some washing, got the paper and hoovered, the living room is about 70 % finished and I am actually looking forward to the conservatory being tidy. It is not rainng today - bet it rains next weekend - when I need to wash the cars and have a quick garden tidy up!

ok off to make an early lunch

thanks again to everyone who posts xxxxx

    Hi Buffy,

I'm a bit of a long-term lurker on your thread and your recent comments have encouraged me to write as they echo my own thoughts almost exactly. I teach English and am finding that the only way to physically keep up with the marking is to work virtually every waking hour. I then feel so guilty that I have neglected loved ones that I go into overdrive trying to make it up to them, the result being that I then don't manage to get enough work done! Such a vicious circle! It doesn't help that I am a bit of a perfectionist and end up putting things off rather than not having time to complete the task properly!! I just don't understand how other people manage. I am told that it gets easier with time (it is only my third year in the job) but I don't seem to be getting the hang of this juggling business. Sorry to use your thread for a rant, Buffy. I just wanted you to know that you are by no means alone!

  • Wow Loushoe, I could have written that post.

I think its mainly that the job has changed so much and I am not changing with it. Mind you I don't know many teachers who are enjoying it at the moment.

Today was ok, till my after school meeting, two hours. came home knackered to a tip - I have tidied been to visit my sis and thats it.

Am so tired and fed up I am going to bed, despite bringing home a pile of books to mark.

I could cry but honestly I do feel better on some level. I stil didn't want to get up this morning! but who does. (if you are one of those people who leap out of bed in the morning please tell me the secret! )

must go log on to bank stuff.

    xxxx

  • I would also like to know the 'leap' secret.. I crawled out of bed this 'morning' at 3pm.
(In my defense I was working until 7am though!). Still a waste of a day.

Keep smiling Buffy ! If all else fails we're still here to make you smile.

  • Cheers Lee xx

I survived. I keep having days where I think today I won't last, I ll flip or burst into tears.

But I didn't today so that is good.

I am doing an extra shift at tutoring so that is good, money wise. A and L are charging me 50p a day for being over drawn, my phone bill was a bit of a surprise - I have sent money to cover it but it won't get there till tomorrow.

I was going to mark now but I am just too tired!
So feed the (very nervous) Guinea pigs make some cocoa and go to bed

I WILL get into work earlier tomorrow. especially if I have a good night's sleep

    xxxxxx

Ps I really miss my Mum, I am SO glad she is coming back this weekend (huge house clean first tho!!)

As we are all dedicated professionals who want the best for our kids our free time is completely inconsequential, the satisfaction we get from attending such amazing worthwhile professional discussions more then makes up for missing the bus, catching the rush in Sainsburys and not getting home till almost 7.

    Hmmmmm.

Hugs Beanie hope you are doing ok xxxxx
