Just had a good chat with boyf and that's perked me up a bit, i love having a partner i can really talk to.
I need to just get on this afternoon because I keep surfing the net well ebay, for carp I don't need...I've just spent half over lookng at bronze bags
So I'm setting the alarm on my phone for 30 mins and doing 30 mins work and then having 10 mins play then 30 mins work again, it'll be done in no time then
Wish i was going jumbling tonight goan, mind you your jumble sales sound much richer than the ones up here, you always manage to get some awesome pieces!*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*No new toiletries challenge - use up the stash first!NSD Jan 2/150 -
at least you have jumble sales!!
i've never seen one advertised here :S
i'm thinking of holding one to raise money for guides though - is it customary practice to charge sellers for tables, and then people for entrance goan??0 -
Years of practice, Queenie! It's such a depressing day today I need some retail therapy to cheer me up even if it's a 10p scarf...0

With jumble sales, PirateFairy, just pop leaflets through local folks' doors and get the Guides to ask their families to have a clear out. You'd have to get the church hall to let you have a room to keep donations. On the evening before the pre-arranged date get the donations heaped up on tables then you charge admission at the door (10p in poor areas and up to £1 in posh ones.) My Mum's friend's guide group usually make about £200
You could try a table top sale whereby you'd charge people £5-£7 per table and maybe 50p admission for buyers at the door.0 -

agreed...I might walk down to primark after uni to browse the cheap accessories and maybe treat myself to something for a couple of quid to cheer myself up*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*No new toiletries challenge - use up the stash first!NSD Jan 2/150 -

I'm also quite sad and budget a max price I'll pay for each piece, I love coming in under budget and having spare money for a nice coffee!
I'm not an organised shopper but I look at something I like and I decide how much I would pay for it and then I look at the price label. If it's under I get it and if it's over I don't.
I'm working backwards through the thread as you lot have done 10 pages since I was last here and I have blogs to catch up on too!0 -
right-oh..i think i was getting mixed up between the two..but i think we could probably manage to do either..
we have a coffee eve planned soon anyway as part of the centenary year, and were planning to have a kind of swap-shop thing there (i've not done it before but one of the other leaders explained to me that they had asked the girls to bring things in and given them tokens for their items, and then "sell them" to others for a token value..?) not sure if that will work, think a jumble sale would be a better idea on a different occasion.0 -

I do just this. I say to DH ''I like this £20 much'' or something,if its under the amount its a possible, over, it goes back.
