Hey Tara, long time, no speak!!

I've just googled Martine Wester and those cocktail rings are gorgeous.
Yes, It was the DM, that bastion of Middle England.

PirateFairy - My friends and I often decry the lack of ingenuity and individuality in the "younger generation's" dress sense.
In the late 70's and early 80's when we were first into clothes there weren't many cheap high street shops (just Chelsea Girl and C&A) so unless you wanted to look like every other girl you had to learn to get inventive with the sewing machine and second-hand stuff, hence the punk and New Romantic movements. It's so refreshing to see a younger person dressed imaginatively!

I agree about the lack of originality today, that's why I love charity shops/making up my own outfits and am trying to learn to sew. I am also thinking of creating a look book (can't remember who recommended that). One for fashion, one for the house I want to decorate one day! I also like fashion blogs but would have no life if I read them all ha ha.

  • Hello ladies.

I though it was about time I came out of the shadows and stop lurking. I've been following this thread for quite a while but never got the courage to post.

I love clothes and buy lots but unfortunately are not very inspired. I live in jeans because as a stay at home mummy they are more practical. I would love to be a bit more adventurous but I hate my size at the moment, which is something that I am working on at the moment.

    Today I am wearing

    Black straight leg jeans(Asda)
    White top(Next)
    Red v neck long jumper(Primark)
Multicolour stripe knee length socks(underneath jeans)

So you see not very inspired. I need help!!

Edited to add that I love ebay and charity shops.

ooo sewing! I can do that! lol Theres a mini sewing machine you can buy - think its from one of those crappy little books that get shoved through your door every so often - but i got mine from a boot sale for £5 its great!
  • MM, like the style of the top, but if I was you I would try buying that look but as seperates. Will be alot more versatile to have a seperate cardi and belt to wear with various tops etc.

Have a look in Primark for basics like long cardigans, belts etc.

If my husband knew the true number of my collection i think he would pass out. It makes me sick thinking of how many but yet i still buy!!

I have a top very similar to that one, jeans and boots would be great or leggings and boots/pumps!
