Hi lostinrates, its true I love my fake tan;)If you have streaky legs I would have a good hot shower or even better a long hot bath and use lots of conditioning shower gel, fake tan dosn't like hot water or anything with mositurisers or oil also have a good exfoliate, the best thing is the gloves, when you come out of the shower/bath give it half an hour or so and reapply over what is left, if you cant be bothered or don't have time for a shower reapply over what you have on already, in general 2 layers of product gives a better but not necessarily darker colour, just kind of richer/deeper. Top tip for streak free self tanning is to invest in a mit applicator from Boots (half price at the mo) Tesco etc also sell them:)
Hope thats of use, I could probably help more if I knew what product you had used and what type of skin you have, I could also recommend a product that wouldnt streak and probably be cheaper;)as you see I could go on and on............:rotfl:
This is FCUK tanning cream. It feels wonderful on my skin, as good as any moisteriser I've used. FWIW I'm so pale that the palest gradual tan moisturiser can look ottand I have normal skin on my legs, (naturally slightly dry but seriously well moisturised resulting in retty good skin condition). I have two bottles of the gradual tan too, goodness knows why. I like being pale (I used to be naturally very, very dark before I lived in UK), but I'm trying to clear my stash of toiletries and I thought maybe, as the weather was so depressing was the time for a bit of fake glow.
Everytime I say ''never again''.
No problem with bath, thats what I'll do! Thank you!0 -
I'm guessing you must be yellow toned despite being pale, yellow skin tones seem to need a lot less fake tan to get a colour, when I say less I mean a lower percentage of the active ingredient which is DHA if your not keen to be darker then the gradual ones will be fine but if you ever fancy a change you can try a professional product from this site http://www.celebritysecrets.co.uk/ choose a low % the result will be streak free and long lasting and no need for moisturiser and best of all the products are far cheaper than anything you can buy on the high street thats decent:D Which ever product you choose I strongly recommend the mit for a couple of quid it gives fabulous results, you wont regret buying it and you can throw them in the washing machine. If you have time check out the fake tan thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1621869&highlight its very long but lots of good info and tips and not just from me;) Let me know how your tan turns out:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

I've decided I'm confused on skin tone I've always understood I'm warm but pink. Most foundations look yellow and dark on be, prescriptives said I was interesting pink (or red and blue or something) years ago. I've decided I don't know.:D
I'll see how I go tonight I won't need the mitt if I stick to the resolve to NEVER do this again, and give my neices (also pale!) anything tan related. I've already palmed off a gradual tan moisturiser on my mother today :rotfl:0 -
minerva, best of luck for the interview!! I love your outfit today too, for someone who was recently a student you dress better than I do! :rotfl:
Thank you! Tis a combination of having a very generous and stylish big sister who offloaded a lot of her old work clothes on me after having my nephew, a bit of thriftiness (I'd seen a very similar top to mine for sale in Topshop at £16 a pop and wasn't paying that for a white top!), and the sheer dumb luck of finding a skirt that had been in a magazine and wasn't sold out!
Plus I work in an office so I need nice smart clothes, and after three years of living in T-shirts and jeans I must say it's quite nice to get up in the morning and put on pretty clothes"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
Morning all! An early one for me today. I had to come and tell you all about my outfit triumph this morning.
In the September issue of Red, I spotted an outfit I absolutely loved. Floral tea dress with thick coloured tights and a long cardi belted with a skinny, elasticated belt. The model also wore a knitted hat and suede platform sandals. The colours were so rich and autumnal, it looked fantastic and really wearable too. I don't often think that about entire outfits in magazines - usually there are pieces I really love but think 'I wouldn't team that with that' or 'you'd never be able to wear that for work!', but this was beautiful and practical.
That particular outfit cost over £200 in total. Yikes! So I went on a mission to find something similar, with my own twists, for much less. So today I'm wearing:
Floral button down tea dress (Zara, £25. Already had this)
Damson tights (M&S, £4)
Long purple cardigan (Topshop via eBay, £7)
Skinny black elasticated belt with gold buckle (Primark, £1.50)
Black patent flats with gold detail (Primark, £8. I bought these first to replace a pair that I broke, so needed these anyway)
Gold nameplate necklace (Already had this)
Owl face ring (Already had this)
And it looks great! I went for flats rather than heels because I'm already rather tall and don't really wear heels during the day. I left off the knitted hat because it's not quite cold enough for that yet, but I have a great coffee cream one that will work well. I added my own accessories because I always have to wear something sparkly. Total cost for new items to create this particular outfit was £12.50. Brilliant!

Ooh that sounds lovely. I do like floral print tea dresses.
I feel quite dull by comparison! - black cords, Green Flash, work polo shirt (forest green), a little black cardi over the top and some green enamel thin bangles.0 -
Thanks Tara and Alexnikov! I feel all chirpy and cheerful! Probably because it's Friday though!:rotfl:
Tara, I'll check what page the outfit's on when I get home. I've just started reading Red (my OH's mum has a subscription and she gave me a load that she'd finished with) and I really like it. I think it's aimed at ladies a little bit older than me (I'm 23) but it's got lots more substance than Look and is easier to read than Vogue! Looking forward to the next issue!
Alexnikov, sounds like you've taken a boring work shirt and made it fabulous!0 -
Afternoon all!
Been to the gym and for an eye test this morning and am shortly about to head off to get my hair cut before my interview and going to Istanbul.
Today's outfit is:
- Pale blue scoop neck half sleeve top (Dotty P's)
- Blue/black jeans (Gap)
- Blue and white patchwork style pumps (Rocket Dog)
After the hairdressers I'm going to come home to do laundry and pack, and then do some more job applications."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
Oh GrammarGirl - your outfit sounds lovely!
It's lovely here today, sunny and dry and almost summer-like. Perhaps these rumours of an Indian summer might be true, I do hope so! I detest winter.
Been to my hydrotherapy class today and for a brief charity shop scout around with mum. Got BF a vintage 1960's Cecil Gee double-breasted wool trench coat and a navy blue 100% cashmere overcoat for a bargainacious £2 , I'm in his good books now.
I'm wearing:
River Island skinny jeans cut off at the knee (10p jumble sale)
Assymmetric grey teeshirt dress (Again!)
Vintage denim waistcoat (had for years)
Vintage oversized sunglasses with grey frames (car boot sale)
1970's silk scarf with psychedellic swirly pattern (50p chazza shop last friday)
Indian tribal silver rings and bangles (India)
Silver hoop earrings with amber stones (India)
Schuh tan leather ankle boots with intergral platforms and 6in heels (£5 local market)
Tan leather holdall with silk paisley inserts (25p car boot sale)
Off on a shoe making course tomorrow at our town leather museum so shall have a relatively sober night tonight (famous last words)
Have a good weekend all!0
