Morning all! EDIT> Ooops Afternoon all! Is that really the time, already?
Crazy weather here this morning, torrential rain, now the sun's trying to break through and there's that weird 'brittle' kind of brightness that obviously isn't going to last!
A jewellery question for you....has anybody sold any bits of gold jewellery either as items or scrap? As part of my "clear the clutter/minimise the stuff" process I've got a few small bits I don't want. There's an MSE 'gold for cash' thread, but TBH reading it makes you dizzy as you try to sort the spam from the luncheon meat IYKWIM!
I have a childs pretty little twisted gold bangle (not sentimental...left behind with a load of stuff in a house we bought), a man's signet ring engraved with initials and a bracelet of mine from the 80's which I dislike and I don't think anyone else would like either!
I also have a bracelet like this of my mum's, which I am not particularly sentimental about ( I have her engagement ring and that is far more meaningful and wearable for me ). I have just had her favourite little winged-armchair that she used all the time recovered to match my bedroom, so I would be happy to sell the bracelet to cover the cost of that.....it would seem fitting and far more purposeful then!

I don't know that hers is Victorian though, it was bought in the early 1950's and it was bought second-hand then (free from Purchase Tax she used to say, so you got more gold for your money!!???)
I'll probably end up shoving it all back in the box.......but it would be nice to be proactive!0 -
Afternoon all
Simple outfit today as I'm belting round work getting ready for our Victorian Christmas event this weekend. The jelly I've made came out of the fancy mould properly so that's a good start!
Black boots
Indigo jeans
Long grey slash neck top
Mint green pashmina
Green enamel drop earrings
And a trusty work fleece as it's sodding freezing!
Can't wait to stop being so irritatingly busy at work and get on with some baking. I have tons to do as Christmas gifts for people at work (toffee, fudge, chewy choc biscuits, stained glass cookies, florentines, peppermint creams). And we have a tiny kitchen in the new house so it's going to be tricky!
Ooh thanks for the voucher codes everyone. Drew a blank with the lovely M&S dress so I'm going to check out the retail park after work tonight. I don't feel very hopeful though as there seem to be hardly any nice dresses around - they're all bum skimming tunics and I want a proper dress that's a proper length!0 -
Alex- I'm going to be making peppermint creams as gifts this year, as well as fudge and some kind of nut brittle I think. I did stained glass cookies and shortbread last year, I LOVE baking!
I hate never being able to find long enough dresses, worse, being 5'10, as most aren't even bum skimming :eek:0 -

Ooh, there's some lingerie on the Monsoon website I'm lusting after... *is a sucker for nice undies*
I'm in work at the moment, listening to Greg James on the radio and aimlessly web surfing (it's weirdly quiet and I've nothing to do!), and today's outfit is:
- Cream short sleeve wrap dress with blue trim and swirly pattern of blue and orange flowers, nicer than it sounds honest! (Joe Browns)
- White scoop neck long sleeve top (Dorothy Perkins)
- Black tights (M&S)
- Brown mid calf flat boots (Rocket Dog)
- Black military style flared jacket (New Look) to come into work
- Multicoloured stripey scarf, beanie hat and mittens (Accessorize) to come into work
- Brown leather handbag (21st birthday present from parents)
- Usual jewellery (birthday/Christmas/graduation presents from parents and boyfriend)
Nail polish is a Boots cheapy clear one, hair is straightened and messed up with spray wax, and perfume is Body Shop Aqua Lily.
Interview yesterday went well I think, much better than the other week which is good! They didn't say when they'd let me know but as they're doing two days of interviews (yesterday and today) I'm expecting to hear either later today or Monday.
I'm in work until five, then home to do my workout and chill out with Have I Got News For You and Armstrong & Miller. It's all good!

Alex, have you had a look on the Next website? There are quite a few very wearable and flattering dresses on there similar to the M&s one. Next dresses often come with the option of Tall length too! However opaque tights have made above the knee dresses very wearable this season for more of us!!0 -
Afternoon Gang. Hope you're all well and looking forward to the weekend.
I've been given the task of painting a cupboard so I'd better crack on with it but thought I'd post my outfit quickly:
Suede 1960's jerkin (Car boot)
Denim leggings (market)
Biker tee (jumble sale)
Urban Outfitters fringed necklace (car boot)
Faith tan leather platform ankle boots (market)
H&M tassel earrings (Car boot)
Usual tribal jewellery (India)
Photograph just updated on blog if interested!
Bronnie - we leave near Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. Last week's gold price was posted as £7.66 outside one of the workshops. My friend took her old stuff in and got £900!!! Another pal went to a gold buying day at the local village hall and got around £190 (even the studs that were attached to an old pair of pearl earrings netted £10).
Piratefairy - That pain usually signifies a trapped nerve in the neck but it's always worth a Doctor's opinion. If I were you I'd go to the surgery after work and explain your worries to the receptionist.0
