Can you ladies help advise me on what is worth buying from primark at the moment.
am hoping to go to my closest one (over 50 miles away) next week with dd as its half term, this one is always heaving and chaotic and in the past i have taken one look and run away as fast as poss.:o
also how does their clothes sizing compare to other high street stores?Lead us not into temptation...
just tell us where it is and we'll find it....0 -
omg that matalan skirt
shame that style looks pap over my hips and thighs.
(probably just as well given my current bank balace!)
Primark:
Scarves...I bought a gorgeous chunky knit one for £3.50
TIGHTS loads of block colour ones for £1 a pair, or 50p occasionally if your lucky and you see them reduced.
Cardigans, so much choice
There are some nice dresses, tops, skirts etc
and depending on what you like...jeans.
Also underwear and PJS from primark are the best I've found (for my stupidly small chest!)
I find their sizing fairly on par with New Look if I'm honest. Trousers and jeans are most hit or miss.0 -

Anyway, I can't advise on specific products (although I've just popped my own wishlist on my blog) but I do have some tips for Primark (or any cheaper store) shopping.
1. Buy classic items with a twist. If you go straight for the full on trended stuff, you'll see 20 others wearing the same and it'll date within a few months. I love Primark for printed dresses in classic cuts because they can be instantly updated with a jacket or pair of boots and won't look old.
2. Buy natural fibres, or at least a mix. The polyester cardigans may be £5 but the cotton ones are £10 and last years.
3. Be honest with yourself. Will you really wear those sequin leggings or are you buying them because they're £3?
They're my three top tips. My friends are always saying they can't believe my clothes are from Primark but that's only because they see the tat and nothing else. I'm no expert, I just look for the better quality pieces and styles I know will last me a bit longer.
As for the sizing, I find it pretty standard and rarely try stuff on in there. Primark changing rooms are so stressful and I think they should be avoided at all costs! Although if your nearest store is 50 miles away, you probably should. You can only take 4 items in at a time though, so pick wisely!0 -

As for other cheap shops, I noticed H&M had some lovely autumnal stuff in and Zara is great for cheap basics. Hope all that helps!
If I was more choherent, that would be my exact advice too
and the rules I follow.0 -
Really good tips GG.
I love Primark, check out the boots, they had some really great ones when I went a week ago.
I love the accessories and also basic long sleeve t-shirts etc are good value.
I would say try things on though as the sizing can be a odd.
Happy Shopping!0 -

I totally agreed with your advice too! If we went shopping together I think there'd be trouble.
I edited that last bit because I somehow misread 'how are the sizes' as 'what other cheap shops are good?'
Long day!
Good call about the boots too, Vicki... I think Primark are really good at using fake leather that looks real and not at all plasticky.0 -
Mrs_Ryan, Just being nosy really;), I've looked at your sig and I'm really bewildered care to enlighten me?:)
Certainly!
Its probably obvious im a HUGE Lee Ryan fanThe first bit about Lee tweeting me was about a message I got from him on Twitter to say happy birthday with the date and the time, and a direct quote of the message (MrLeeRyan is him and poetichealer is me) - it was a really big thing for me and made me so happy, I wanted somewhere more permanent than my Twitter account to keep it so I put it on my sig instead!
The second part - the part that says 1993-2009, the wait is finally over etc, refers to when I met Kyran Bracken in August, I have liked him since I was 13and it was the first time I had met him - the bit about drinking with this lot last night was what he said when we saw him at the Bournemouth Centre where he was performing with his Ice Party Ice Show as we had been chatting and dancing with him at a nightclub the previous night! Again, I wanted somewhere to put the quote as I was so thrilled when he announced it to everyone
that i put it on my sig!
The Chatham Chav thing is just a funny line from the Sub-Prime Credit Card thread on the Credit Card board, and Lee Ryan was born in Chatham so i just thought it was funnyAnd obviously then the Stephen Gately thing is self-explanatory.
Phew! My sig tells quite a story*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -

Are you Lee's Mum?
Morning all,
Still in my fluffy dressing gown, need to get a move on or i'll be late.0 -
Morning all
Oof, I feel somewhat drained today after an 11hr day at work yesterday. I slept in this morning and didn't have much time to get ready so it's a plainish outfit today:
Black ankle boots
Dark blue jeans
White vest
Slash neck grey jumper with twist detail on the shoulders (recently rediscovered lurking at the back of the wardrobe)
Dangly shell earrings0 -
Morning everyone!
I'm sooo tired from sitting up late to watch Question Time and then "discussing" with dh lol. TGI it's Friday.........
It's funny old weather here today too. At the moment it's really very foggy, but the sun is trying to come through and it is apparently going to get up to 17degs today. Not terribly helpful when it comes to choosing what to wear, so have gone for layers.
short black dress with cream bib/collar detail - Next sale £15
fitted black cardie - Laura Ashley very old present
short sleeved fitted black jacket - Primark sale £5
black opaques - Tesco or M&S
knee length brown biker boots - Next £80
I'm wearing soo much black lately!! Help!! How can I brighten things up without spending a fortune??0
