I want a iPod touch Headphone with Mic to use skype but other than the £19 Apple ones on amazon which has mixed reviews the others have just as bad unless you want to pay £50+ .
    Any recommendations

Being a sassy consumer tends to point me away from apple, second hand or not IMO.

One's taste in computers has little to do with how "sassy" one is.

Oh good glad to know, if I wanted a refurb though I'd ask for the cheapest refurb, which probably would be apples.
apple offer the service so their products do not end up in landfill - or - some car boot sale.

Plus - they bring a hefty discount to the consumer. Just like the dell refurb store. Something ideal if you need to replace a lost ipod or something

    And itunes is pants.

Last time i checked - opinions are like arseholes - everybody has got one. :rotfl:

Seriously - you think it is pants - myself and a few others believe it is a fantastic product. Agree to disagree :p The take up for anything is never 100% :p

That's quite a strong opinion coming from someone who, last time we talked, hasn't "used it in many years".

What's their web browser like? Their email client? Do they have MS Exchange support?

Believe it users Opera - Not sure on the Mail client..

How about an app store? I count 21 apps, all of which are pretty lacklustre games. Still, they must actually be really good if they make the Archos more functional than the iPod Touch is, with its 65,000 apps.

Wow, apps - Do you use all 65k?

Personally I see the 3 as competition for the iPod (which is what the OP asked for) and 5/7 as similar to the Touch.
I have an old generation Archos which I can connect to the TV and use as a PVR.
For games I have an xbox360 or PSP.
For the web I have a laptop.

The Touch is fine at combining some of these things but why get one of these when an iPhone does practically the same thing but is more useful?

I can see you obviously are a Apple fanboy.
People who choose other makes are not necessarily wrong - Maybe they don't want to follow the sheep and makes their own choices...

not fanboy-ism as such. Just defending a product that seems to have an unwarranted stigma attached to it :)

Quote wasn't directed at you, but I believe Apple are one of the few brands that have 'fanboys'.

I will glady 'recommend' any product / brand I've had personal use of while giving my opinions as to why I wouldn't choose another.

Always seems that if you don't choose any apple product, there is always a 'Fanboy' on hand to 'defend' Apple and belittle any others.

Apple have done exceptionally well to corner several markets through (IMHO) branding rather than being the best product on the market.

It may surprise you to learn that, wonderful as you are, just because someone disagrees with you, it doesn't mean they have some sort of mental defect.

You said there are "players out there with more functionality, more storage space, easier software/interface for much less money" and that's simply not true.

If you told me not to buy an Archos as there were many other players that made tea, travelled through time, and journeyed to the moon, I would say that's also not true.

As for the iPhone vs the iPod Touch, the iPhone is certainly technically better, but it's more expensive, heavier, thicker, and not everyone wants a mobile phone.

An mp3 player just isn't complete unless you can simulate shaking a baby with it.

I didn't imply you had a defect, simply that you are fanatical about Apple.

I'm sure a lot of people disagree with me as they own an iPod.

The Archos 3 ( along with many other MP3/4 Players) have exactly the same functionality & storage for much less money.
Easier software / Interface is subjective as what someone may find awkward another might not.

And not everyone wants an MP3 player that can play games or has a million apps on it.

A particular gripe I have with Apple is that if you go to the Apple.com/US website you can buy a 8GB Touch for $229 (£141) where as if you go to the UK version you have to pay £25 more.
