lol at the ipod hate :D

    my 1st ipod was/is a 60GB video,which still gets near daily use
its been dropped a few times
soaked many!!! times in the rain
most recently about 1/2 a litre of mineral water leaked into it :o
it dried out in the end and works fine car the hold switch. my fault and a replacement is easy found on ebay.
using my phone is a pain, ive used it on days ive forgotten the ipod.i cant control the phone through my shirt pocket as i can the ipod.
i also have 2 nanos which i bought for going running.
1 is an 8gb slim one which has never missed a beat until i lost it in a house move(now found)
the other is a 'fat' 4gb one to replace the 'lost' one
i survived getting slammed into tarmac after i slipped on some ice running at night :o
the pretty metals gouged but it works fine

itunes, dunno what the drama is? works fine for me.
im considering getting a classic as my 60GB has lasted years but i guess ive probably shortened its life with my last attempt at drowning it :(

Why is it when you say you want something cheaper than an apple product you always get pointed to the refurb store. If I wanted second hand/broken now fixed I'd buy it.

if you read their terms and conditions - it is covered by the standard apple warranty for a year - and has been refurbed to a good as new condition......
The Apple Online Store is the exclusive provider of Apple Certified Refurbished products and Clearance Items.

    Refurbished Products

Apple Certified Refurbished Products are pre-owned Apple products that undergo a rigorous refurbishment process prior to being offered for sale. We back these products with our standard one-year limited warranty. For extended coverage, you have the option of purchasing the AppleCare Protection Plan with any Apple Certified Refurbished Mac or iPod.

    Refurbishment Process

    Each Apple Certified Refurbished Product:

is fully tested (including full burn-in testing)
is refurbished with replacement parts for any defective modules identified in testing
    is thoroughly cleaned and inspected
is repackaged (including appropriate manuals, cables, new boxes, etc.)
includes the operating software originally shipped with the unit and the custom software offered with that system
is given a new refurbished part number and serial number
is placed into a final QA inspection prior to being added to sellable refurbished stock
Refurbishment procedures follow the same basic technical guidelines as Apple's Finished Goods testing procedure

Opinion ipod vs everything else? iPod to be honest - iTunes is a fantastic piece of software that ticks all the boxes for management/playback/purchasing etc...

Hooks up to my car stereo - and displays track info et al on my radio/dash board LCD. It oddly does what I want it to do - play music and video. I don't care about an FM radio that goes out of signal range when I am on a bus - or connect it to wifi. I have an iPhone for that :p I also like the ability to wake up to ministry/mint royale/steel panther etc on my dab radio in the morning. By simply docking my iPod :)

Plus once out of the box - setup is flawless :)

The one thing I am !!!!ed off about is that i used to be able to back up my camera photos to my ipod - but they have now got rid of this rather useful piece of functionality :( but minor hiccup - just means I take my laptop everywhere now

Because this is a moneysaving site, the ethos of which is "about cutting bills not cutting back, and being a sassy consumer".

So getting a 20% (or higher) discount on a computer because it doesn't come in a pretty box is a good deal.

Similarly, my trusty old Rio Karma is still doing sterling service hooked up the the aux in on my car stereo.

Either the Archos 5/7 for everything or the new Archos 3 which looks similar to the Touch but at only £90.

iStuff is good and user friendly but overpriced for what it is.

What's their web browser like? Their email client? Do they have MS Exchange support?

How about an app store? I count 21 apps, all of which are pretty lacklustre games. Still, they must actually be really good if they make the Archos more functional than the iPod Touch is, with its 65,000 apps.

How about customer service? I hear Archos' is pretty terrible, whereas Apple's is the best in the business.

And with the Archos I can pay an extra €15 to be able to listen to podcasts.

    What great value. :p

Oh good glad to know, if I wanted a refurb though I'd ask for the cheapest refurb, which probably would be apples. And itunes is pants.

Because the people who do so know what you're actually missing out on and you don't.

(That's why they laugh at you and your incessant rantings about it.)

I think the only thing I'd be missing is the extra cash I'd have to stump up for an apple product and the freedom thats comes with other products. Anyway I'll leave it at that as it seems Scrilla is kicking your !!! in another thread.

Being a sassy consumer tends to point me away from apple, second hand or not IMO.
