Tell me why I should buy an iPod over an MP3/MP4 player

You'd have to ask google, apparently google likes microsoft more than apple, windows over OSX and even linux over OSX. Check it out
I've came across that site before. This however, has more hits than this. The vast majority love their ipods and because of that endure itunes the internet is full of these complaints, most stating itunes is trying to do too much, bloated etc. I'm not searching google for you. Try "problems with itunes" and work from there.
Given that Apple have sold some 200,000,000 iPods, I think that's a very bold statement.
"Problems with iTunes" has 614,000 hits.
"Problems with linux" has 2,750,000 hits.
Do the vast majority of Linux users just endure it because it's free?
Even "Problems with Ubuntu" has 834,000 hits.
You see the problem with your methodology?
Apart from anything else, it assumes that because someone has a problem with something, they hate it.Please marty:rolleyes:. You yourself stated that you know I've used it previously, slowed my computer up no end got rid of it never used it since.
Get is right its: Mr "I've-used-it-in-the-past-it-was-rubbish-never-used-it-since-and-reviews-of-current-versions-convince-me-it-a-good-thing-too"
You don't like to try things out yourself?
Form your own opinions?Understood it for what it was, it quotes the total amount of one expert. Smacks of cherry picking to prove a point.
Here's another one:
Why 'Cheap' May Really Be ExpensiveSeem to remember you saying something different in another of our discussions, something about how M$ were stamping it out.
I guess Linux is part of the race to the bottom that is the computer industry. Cutting the price of the OS is one of the few remaining places manufacturers can save some money.0 -

Nothing bold about it."Problems with iTunes" has 614,000 hits.

No I dont? Enlighten me. I see problems with yours though.
Aren't talking about itunes? Why bring up linux? Wheres the relevance?
Linux encompasses vastly more than itunes does; Linux is a full operating system along with a vast amount software covering things from office to media, its scope dwarfs itunes. Itunes is a bloated media management suite.
Bring up windows next I'm sure there are vastly more problems there too, with just as much irrelevance.Apart from anything else, it assumes that because someone has a problem with something, they hate it.
People put up with it, I dont think they hate it otherwise they'd not have a ipod. I'm curious as to why M$ cant package a browser with their OS and apple can tie people to itunes, sound anticompetitive to me.You don't like to try things out yourself?

I dont try it cos it dont work on my computer, is there a linux version. I wouldn't bother putting it on my windows machine, slowed up the ex's.Here's another one:

I'm yet to see why cheap goods are a problem for the consumer. For instance if I wanted a mac I'd find the cheapest price I can get it for, same as when I buy anything else.
Next time I'm buying something though I'll follow your advice and find the most expensive price and pay that.0 -
This thread is getting prety ridiculous. You could argue all day why one product is better than another but you can never come to a consensus on which is best because people have different requirements which leads them to buy different products.
I own an Ipod touch - I went down this route because I had some specific requirements that couldn't be matched by other devices. I wouldn't argue that is it better than other similar devices but it does meet my needs the best.
Perhaps it would be best if the OP could tell us exactly what they expect from an MP3/MP4 player and what their priorities are and then we could have a go at deciding which product fits best.0
