This should serve as a warning to people to stay away from secured loans. These loans are secured only for the lenders. As has been mentioned time and time on this forum, read the t&c's of every agreement you sign.Ignorance is the start of all trouble and not an excuse.

Yes there are a lot of rude people on this board and it isn't always newbies, often than not it is not. It has gotten worse over the last year or so. People post asking for advice, which is what drew most people to the site and they get flooded with well you can only call them bullies, replying.
    Nice to save.

I have a brother with Cystic Fibrosis but he has never used his illness as an excuse to get into all sorts of debts.People need to take responsibility for their own actions. We have turned into a society where we are constantly looking to blame others or wriggle out of our financial committments.Look at the multiple threads on unenforcibility-I borrowed money but do not want to pay it back because there are a few spelling mistakes in the agreement.

"I have a brother with Cystic Fibrosis"....Im genuinely sorry for your troubles.

"but he has never used his illness as an excuse to get into all sorts of debts".....he sounds like a nice lad, you must be proud of him and you must have genuine hopes that if he is ever in any need of advice he wont be met by acidic, judgmental comments that have little to do with the question he is asking.

"People need to take responsibility for their own actions"...couldnt agree more /e ironic.

"We have turned into a society where we are constantly looking to blame others or wriggle out of our financial committments.Look at the multiple threads on unenforcibility-I borrowed money but do not want to pay it back because there are a few spelling mistakes in the agreement"....this really is a totally seperate post, worthy of discussion, but not imo by hyjacking a request for advice.

icon13.gif Oh dear you really are a sad bitter little man, aren't you!!!

I had the secured loan which was for home improvements for nearly 5 years and never missed a payment until my condition deteriorate dramatically and I needed to be on oxygen 24/7 and go on the organ donor list for a lung transplant. Despite my condition I have worked since I was 15 years of age, I’m 42 now and this is the first time I have been unemployed and in receipt of benefits. I’ve had my mortgage on my property for 16 years, never missed a payment and have no mortgage arrears.
So how dare you have the audacity to insult my character and morals by insinuating that I am using my illness as the alleged reason for my financial difficulties? I take full responsibility for my actions, however it was due to the timescale waiting for the T & C’s to be concluded within the New Scottish Government Schemes for the disabled Mortgage to Shared Equity Scheme, which will give me the opportunity to buy back the % of equity the government take over after two years. Hopefully I will have had my lung transplant by then and be able to commence some form of employment again. Does that sound like an individual looking to blame others of wriggle out of my financial commitments or someone who is trying to find the best financial solution during my wait for the transplant and also the opportunity to buy back the equity when I am well enough to commence working again.
Probably best that you don’t post any further threads as your making an absolute fool of yourself with your unfounded comments.

    Hi Gerry

Ignore the poster. I had posts removed from this thread as I had quoted he/she in my posts. His posts were rude and offensive but sadly he/she is not the only poster on here like that.

You were given great advice from others on here so as you can see the majority of posters are helpful and nice.

Glad you got everything sorted x

I have watched this thread with interest, sympathy and disgust at some posts.

To the OP Im glad that things are not so bleak as they first seemed. Goodluck with your health and housing.

I echo what Mrs Bumble says - Im all for free speech but as Hansell B. Duckett says

"what this country needs is more free speech that is worth listening to":silenced:
Thank you very much for your kind comments, I’ve found it very disturbing dealing with the spiteful and vicious comments in addition to dealing with the financial issues.
Fortunately with help and support from people like yourself, I managed to get it all sorted. Thankyou
