Actually, in the case of hospital appointments, this may not be true. My mother would have missed more than one appointment for chemo/radiotherapy if it hadn't been for my sisters and I ringing the hospital to enquire about them, due to letters going astray:mad:
That's my problem now i've missed my scan appointment, I now have to wait another 2 weeks until the next appointment which altogether will mean I may have my chemo delayed by roughly 5-6 weeks once they have got the results through and decided what they are going to do.If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.0

Best of luck to you, hoyles10 - very frustrating, I know.[0 -

Not really. No-one died, a bit of mail went to a neighbour. Granted, it may have happened before but half of it was probably junk anyway. If that's the only thing someone has to whinge about in life in the current financial/employment climate they should think themselves lucky.
In my job I occasionally make mistakes, show me someone who doesn't and I'll show you a liar!
OP should complain and complain until the postie gets the sack - maybe he's a temp so it would be even easier to get rid of him. That might be satisfying for some - thankfully I'm not one of them.
Keep this trivia in perspective. I repeat - get a life!0 -

Of course none of the rest of us have family members with life time conditions that if not properly medicated could go rouge and kill or disabled them even further.
Any one who has long term medical conditions and regular contact with medical profession will know when roughly when their appointments are due and if letter does not arrive will phone to check. Well that is what my husband does.
Maybe some people just don't have common sense. Considering the amount of letters that are sent every day the amount that going missing is very small. On the very odd occasion it could be a medical appointment.
If there was some serious consequences then fine scream and shout and moan. Otherwise why get stressed about it. Life is hard enough as it is.
Most of the people on this thread would not get up at 4am every morning to sort the letters and then head out in all weather to deliver for the money they get paid. I know I would not.
If everyone on this thread is worried about the state of the post service. And think you all think you can do the job so much better then please do apply to be a postie.
I await to see a much improved postal service.

I didn't know roughly when I was due an appointment as I had to be given a rest from my treatment because of the damage it was doing to other parts of me. I was told the hospital would contact me at some point to arrange a further scan and things would be reviewed from there so I had no idea that I should have received an appointment. Had I known I was due to receive something then I would have used my common sense and phoned to check. I'm sure this is the case for quite a few people so common sense doesn't come into it.If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.0

Postman, Policeman, Teachers, CSA, Banks, PPI, Bank Charges etc etc.... We all have our one thing that gets on our nerves and to each person that particular issue at that particular time is important to them. It may not be a big issue to others but if that is the way you feel why post?
I just wonder "in the current financial/economic climate" "when we all have bigger things to worry about" as has been said before, there seems to be a trend on forums of turning frosty and personal.
Can I spread a bit of love in my "post" (pun intended). :smileyheaI am not a financial expert and I am not perfect but purrleeaassse don't be mean to me if I express an opinion that may not be quite what you thought.

Oh yes. Sadly, as serious as it could possibly be. Sometimes what seems to be a seemingly inconsequential, tiny matter (to others, at least) has a huge, huge effect. Glad you and yours haven't been affected in the same way, though.[0 -
Concentrate his mind by sticking a sign on your door " Urgent mail is often expected at this address, please post with care, thank you."-can't make it much plainer-and if he still gets it wrong there is no hope.
Perhaps he is a misunderstood genius, cut out for another line of work?0 -
To the OP. You don't live in Aberdeenshireshire by any chance do you?
We had a postie for about 9 months that was constantly delivering our mail to our neighbours. We let it go for a couple of times then we phoned to complain. Was assured said postie would be spoken to, then it would happpen again. I mean after all it is not difficult to read an address and pop the envelope through the correct letterbox. Yes I can understand mistakes do happen but over the 9 months we had about 9 occasions where he mis-delivered our mail.
For those posters who feel we should give the poor postie a break and maybe he is new etc. It was in our local paper last night of an Aberdeen postie, aged 18, been in the job for 6 weeks and couldn't cope so he burned more than 400 letters and parcels and stashed away over 2000. He was sentenced yesterday to ..... wait for it.................. 180 hours of community service and 1 year probation. The best things in life are free.....0
