All these current postal strikes about pay and modernisation, maybe the OP's postie needs paying and modernising.

My postie is fab, love him to bits. Problems start when he is off....
One day we had a replacement who managed to post the wrong letters to the entire street 160 went to 162, 162 to 164 etc. In a street with a few hundred houses it was one heck of a cockup!!0 -
I really can't belive that people on this board will refuse to shop in Morrisons because the cafe run out of brown sauce but don't see the problem with the postman posting correctly addressed letters in the wrong door. In the old days when everyone knew their neighbours (and granted in some areas its still like this) it was not a problem. But nowadays who knows what your neighbours are like. The postman job is not that complicated and most of them do a great job in all weathers. But if a postman can't post the letter in the right letter box then something is seriously wrong. I would report this to the manager of the sorting office and Royal Mail general customer services by letter. I would not even try and bother ringing each as the sorting office won't answer the phone and the general customer services are like a stone wall. It may well be that the postman is not suited for the job and somehow and has been covering up for this. You may well find that other people have complained also.
But you should pursue this as all you need is a bank statement to go amiss and you could end up with all kinds of things being obtained in your name.
Now if I had been to Morrisons but they had no brown sauce then got home to find someone else had my post and I had someone elses post then I really wouldn't be happy. Especially if my post that went to the wrong house was a sachet of brown sauce from the freebies board

We have just been "appointed" a regular postman, and our delivery is now a lot better, plus my dd thinks he is cute, so always trys to be aound when he calls!!!!
BUT
the replacemnt we usually get is worse that having no post at all. English is not his first language, or if it is he always pretends it isn't. He quite often brings completely unrelated post to us, and we have , in recent months not recieved a P45 and at least 2 bank statements. This is really not acceptable, but complaining does not get me anywhere. We try to take care to not let our financail or personal details be available for anyone to read, but because of the postman we might just as well not bother.
To those who are saying, give the postman a break and it really is not important--all I can say is you have clearly not lost documents or suffered any inconvienience because of them. I don't send anything of value through the post, unfortunatly, other people, such as banks, employers, hospitals and government departments still do. (except perhaps, passports--the government does not seem to trust the post offfice to deliver those)LBM-2003ish

I've complained to Royal Mail in the past about this issue

Our address was very similar to another house in the village, our neighbours kept getting our letterss, we got theirs, he delivered some things to a relative who lives not far from us (addressed to us though!) and it would happen every day. The people who lived at the other house with a similar address must have got our post as we got theirs! LOTS of things incl. cheques went to the wrong place or just didn't turn up
So, I sent Royal Mail a complaint via their website and got a response which said they had spoken to staff concerned and will monitor it. It's not been so much of a problem since. Our postie did know as he mentioned it once and said that we seem to get an awful lot of post!
We've moved now but still have the same postman. He gives me a free redirection service now as he says that if he notices something still addressed to me for our old address when he is sorting the post, he delivers it to my new house! He doesn't have to though as family still live at my old address anyway. Bless him, so I DO feel a bit guilty now in a way
It's okay though..i'll get him something at XMAS
:D
ETA: We monitored it for about a month before i complained though. For a one off thing, i'd just leave it. He is only human after all!DFW Nerd #11520 -
The part in bold is what I would like to comment on, they may not send your passport via the postie but how do you think your application get's there in the first placeWe have just been "appointed" a regular postman, and our delivery is now a lot better, plus my dd thinks he is cute, so always trys to be aound when he calls!!!!

plenty of information on the application form along with other documents required. I made a mistake once, believeing people on the internet were my virtual friends. It won't be a mistake that I make again!0 -
I have been job hunting for quite a while now and missed out on an interview for a position that would have been perfect. Invitation letter was delivered to the wrong house (different street name and number!) and the occupants were on holiday so I got the letter two weeks too late.
I make mistakes at work and i get pulled on it why should any other job be different?0 -

always makes me giggle, delivering to tenements i often(yes often) see passports put out in the stair as they have been misaddressed so misdelivered
i deliver them to the correct address with a little note saying correctly delivered for you by royal mail

No comparison one has the potential to be life threatening the other is just annoying. You don't die or lose your house because the postie delivers to the wrong house:rolleyes:
Where I work we get a lot of orders by post. We did not get all our post this morning as they where down staff. We got the rest this afternoon mid afternoon did we make a fuss nope.
Each to there own.
We still get post to my home for someone who moved out 4 years ago but do I make a fuss. Umm no. I just write on there and pop in the next post box I past.
Yours
Calley
No they don't die from postal mistakes- but my husband waited for weeks for a letter confirming a job offer and it went to the wrong address
I work from home for a childrens charity and every day my post arrives after 2pm - sometimes it can be 4-5pm
that means that often by the time I have dealt with any postal enquiries I have also missed the last posting time to get the mail off to my clients the same day.
No-one dies as a result of it- but it is infuriating - especially as my job is voluntary and the posty is getting paid a salary to deliver the post to me at a reasonable time
and don't even mention signed for letters to me..:mad:0
