For over two weeks now, I have been trying to elicit a response from them regarding repairs to spectacles that they supplied almost a year ago.

They have not responded to messages through their website.

The warranty period is about to expire and I am suspicious that they wish to delay until it does expire, in the vain hope that I will not be aware that my contacting them before the expiry date invalidates their excuse.

If this is their idea of building a business with repeat custom, then it is lost on me.

    SHOULDA GONE TO SPECSAVERS?

Be very wary of cheap deals and research the company's after-sales service thoroughly before committing your money to their pockets.

    @ company rep.

I had NO RESPONSE to my messages through your website and that includes any confirmation of receipt of my message or any ticket numbers.

The original order number is 175796 (dated 3rd June 2011).

The invoice number for that order is 124269.

If you sort through the messages sent to you through the website form you provide then you should find my original message detailing the problem and including three photographs as attachments.

Well, I see that you are currently online viewing this thread and it's been over 48 hours since I last posted, so what have you to say to me?

    Hmm?
    Online at 13:27
    Offline at 14:20 without posting.

Interesting behaviour for a company rep' for a supposedly reputable company.

I have thoroughly checked all my email accounts and the only one that received any messages from Selectspecs is the one ending @hotmail.co.uk and the last one from you was on the 13th June this year at 12.03.20 in response to a password request.
This was immediately prior to my first message (which included the photographs of the problem) via your website and of which you have no record.

The message that you say was sent in response to my follow-up message, a week later, was not received by me.

It would appear that the email communication channel that you recommend is unreliable.

However, by using the Live Chat service, a very helpful Helen was able to send me an RMA number (via email, no less) and I hope that the situation will soon be resolved.

I suggest that you get your web-wonks to check out the web-mail service for errors.
If I can experience such problems, anybody else could, too.

    UPDATE 29/6/12 :T

I was pleased to receive, yesterday, my repair/replacement frames and lenses.

Although the total turnaround time was four weeks, I have no cause for complaint (other than the communications problems I encountered) considering the original cost of the spectacles.

I anticipate that I will avail myself of the services of SelectSpecs in future.
(In fact I am considering prescription sunglasses but, in light of the prospect of a poor summer, I may wait a little longer.)

I bought from Select Specs and they are excellent!

Including postage and prescription lenses (only -2) they were £10 all in! They are made and posted from China but it doesn't take too long.

I have bought from selectspecs several times. Prices are usually great but delivery can be extended, two to three weeks is my experience. You should also factor in import charges and handling charges if specs come from Hong Kong.

Alan, when you ordered did you have any issues with import duty or handling charges? This shouldn't happen and most (if not all) customers receive the ordered items without any additional charges.
