Lots of good news.
Although OH doesn't have a job yet he was approached by 4 different schools yesterday letting him know they would have vacancies, either temporary or permanent. We just have to wait for the jobs to be advertised.
And...I passed my Masters and got a merit. I graduate in 4 weeks and am so relieved :j:jto OH

OH has just had a job offer through in the post. It is only a temporary position but at least he has something. He is going to consult the head of department at one of the other schools (the one he wants and who want him). He trusts her judgement and wants to see what she thinks of the department, he also wants to keep her informed as a couple of temporary positions are about to be advertised there.
Also found out, we think he can jump up 4 pay scales because of previous experience.MFW 2025 No. 7 £700/£1200

Well done! I hope you are able to take time out and relax a bit now.

Just been playing about with some figures.
At the moment I am paying £3.36 a day in interest on my mortgage which means if I don't OP for the rest of the year I will pay another £645.12. I missed out on a couple of the last interest rate falls so if they stay where they are for a while these calculations will work.
I took my current mortgage total, took away what I will pay in monthly OPs and payments and then added the interest on. Obviously if the rates stay where they are the interest will get lower.
My current mortgage total in £45,781.41 and with my OPs it will be £44,026.53 by the end of the year. Now I obviously need to at least pay that £26.53. So my challenge is to get the mortgage down to at least that which at the moment will be easy, if the rates change then I will just have to work harder.MFW 2025 No. 7 £700/£1200

I have an update on OHs job front. His 0.5 temporary job offer was wrong...it is actually PERMANENT :j:j He is applying to the supply list as well but isn't too bothered if it is sporadic. We are so relieved as it means we don't have to go through this next year, they may move him around but he will still have a job :j:jMFW 2025 No. 7 £700/£1200

Our money situation should be very stable soon. We took out a 0% account card (for 2 years) for our kitchen and 0% finance for a year for our new windows. I rang and paid the balance of the account card today so my savings have depleted but I had been putting the money away so it wouldn't break us. Now just £5611 to sort out for the windows. We were going to balance transfer it for 15 months so I could do the same for this balance but we have worked out it would cost and extra £252ish so we have decided to use our savings which aren't exactly doing much at the moment and just paying the settlement fee. Should only have our normal credit cards by mid September as OH has just paid his own 0% credit card off. At least now if we want to move we won't have those amounts taken off our possible mortgage total. We may even have more money to throw at the mortgage!!!MFW 2025 No. 7 £700/£1200
