I would like to report that the only credit I now have is my credit card. I have just settled the 0% account we had for our windows and it is a relief to know that if anything went wrong and we needed a loan quickly I would be more appealing to lend to than about 5 minutes ago.
Now what about that car ...MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Well done :j:j:j:j:jA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

My mortgage interest a day is now £3.30, it was £3.57 when I started this thread just over a year ago. If we are still in this house in a year's time I wonder what I can get it down to :idea:MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Just had my energy bills through and they are refunding us. £144 for the gas and £105 for the electricity!! We got refunds 6 months ago too. Part of me would rather they kept it to even it out for after winter but I guess if we are always in credit then it makes sense. This is the first time the have automatically done this, normally I have to ring so there must be some new legislation. I will leave the payments as they are for now and see how it looks in 6 months, if we are in credit again after winter then they can do refunds and change our monthly paymentsMFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Oh dear, I have just had an OCD moment, or maybe a determined MFW moment, I'm not sure. Just checked my mortgage balance, it is at £44893.39, daily interest is around £3.30, 6 days interest left to be added for the month £19.80 mortgage total at the end of the month £44913.19. Well I decided it couldn't possibly go back into that next hundred bracket so I have just OPd another £15 to make sure it stays under. Maybe this is the way to OP a bit more now!MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I bought a new car last week and got a really good deal on the car and loan. Unfortunately my head is telling me I should put the OPs towards the car loan to get rid of that as possible. I was hoping to get my mortgage total down a bit further before the end of the year but will have to postpone that. I will start to put this money aside and try and keep a running total (ish) of how much I need to pay it off early. I will post that on here, I know it is a debt but I don't think of it as bad as I have the money each month to pay it.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I was talking to OH about the OPs I have made on the mortgage last night, I don't think he realised how many years I have managed to shave off! He kind of likes the idea of keeping the total down so is transferring some extra money to me each month so we can keep OPing. That way I can hopefully put money aside for my car OPs as well. I feel a bit out of control money wise at the moment but I know it is because I have the car payment going out now and it is something else that I am not used to. Shame it has to happen right before Christmas.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Hi Ajmoney, just stumbled across your diary and will follow your progress if you don't mind. We have similar outstanding balances so will check in to see how you're getting on from time to time.
All the best with it
