Can anyone advise me please?
I purchased a cheap bike (£49.99) from Sports Direct a couple of weeks ago. Anyway - after trying it out - the chain keeps falling off everytime I change gear - basically its rubbish and needs sending back.
However, I have emailed their customer services 3 times now and they haven't responded as I just don't know how to send it back to them - its not something I can really put in the post.
I bought it on my credit card (M&S) and have contacted them - they said they have no liability when it comes to faulty products and won't discuss it anymore.
Sports Direct don't have a telephone number and I really don't know what else to do. Has anyone any advice please about what to do with this bike - I have since bought another as I realised spending £49.99 on a bike is rather daft - but I still have this bike where the chain continually falls off everytime the gears are changed!
Thankyou!

Do you live near a Sports Direct store? (Previously called Sports Soccer, and Soccer World) If so, take it back to a store and insist they give you a refund.
EDIT: Done a little bit of digging and found a couple of contact numbers for them:
01268 247007
0844 888 8484
It came with this information:If you bought a bike from the thieves at sports direct you will have to ring here instead as sports direct will muck you aroundThe quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

Just a suggestion that OP went in-store for a refund, I mean, quite a few stores allow refunds of online orders, and anyway, it isn't absolutely definate the OP ordered it online. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

LOL! Ermm....yes I did order it online but I think I will keep away from their stores. My nearest is in a shopping mall and I'd look pretty stupid going in on a bike! Thanks for the phone number - will try it tomorrow. I have learnt a lesson - never again will I buy from Sports Direct - they are terrible
I just also wondered whether M&S are telling me the correct stuff about their lack of liability. I thought we were jointly liable when using a credit card?0 -
Re the credit card = there is only joint liability if the amount is over £100make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I've just looked online and someone else has taken them through the small claims court and won for a similar problem. I've had a quick look and it looks like its going to cost me £27 to do this - out of principle I am going to go down this route. Thanks guys!0

Hi,
Paragraph 3.6 from the Distance Selling Regulations (Retailers Guidelines) might be of interest to you:
"After the deadline for cancellation has passed, a consumer claims that goods are faulty or services do not conform to the contract. Do I have to refund the consumer's money?
3.67 In general the DSR's do not affect the consumers rights under other legislation, for example the Sale of Goods Act 1979 or the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982. If the goods or services do not conform to the contract and consumers exercise their rights to reject them, you will have to refund their money.
3.68 If goods develop a fault within the first six months of being sold, the law presumes that the fault was there when you sold the goods -unless you (The seller) can show otherwise. You should not charge return costs for goods that have been rejected because they are faulty.
3.69 If you offer a replacement for faulty goods that have been returned by the consumer, the cancellation rights under the DSR's will run for seven working days from the day after the day the consumer receives the replacement goods, provided you have previously compiled with the information giving provisions in the DSR's..."
...So in simple words, if the product has developed a fault within 6 months of purchase, legally they MUST offer you a full refund (Including deliver costs) or a replacement, and return the faulty product at their expense. If they refuse to do this, or do not have a facility to do this for you, they are breaching the regulations.
I also have another telephone number for you to try:
0870 8387101
...this should connect you to their factory outlet in Mansfield, which may be able to help.Profit=sanity
