Yep, you have our vote on this one - I would also like to send a donation, anyone have any suggestions on the best way to donate, I would like to try to ensure that all the money ends up where it is really needed?0

I've just donated £7,000 from the sites charity fund (managed to scrape some more extra). Anyone else who would like to donate then the best places is the Disasters Emergency Committee which is a collection of all the aid agencies. The number is 0870 606 9000.
And my heart goes out to the person waiting to hear from their family.

Ditto. Definitely the right choice, Martin.
There are lots of collections running in towns and cities for the disaster appeal, so no excuse for people not to help out. The fire service were organising the collection in Derby yesterday.0 -

I think sending the charity money to this appeal is absolutely the right thing to do, we are very lucky in this country not to experience the extremes of nature.
It is truly dreadful the death toll keeps rising, I am concerned about a customer and friend who was on a diving holiday in The Maldives with his girlfriend. We don't really know yet if this tragedy will touch our lives in a more personal way. Ashmit hope your cousin and wife are safe.
Also, having just spent a holiday in Malaysia, seeing tv footage of the devastation of the lovely beaches we were on a few weeks ago just makes me cry. I have emailed the hotel we stayed in to let them know that we are thinking about them and received a response that all the staff and guests were safe.0 -

Martin - that was a wonderful gesture, I am sure everyone on the site would agree. I am sure that many of us will be making a personal donation also.
