Ooh I love lists - shame I don't always follow them! I've spent months producing a finance spreadsheet for all my bills etc., went a bit overboard trying to get it to do great things then went back to basics! One of those organised mum journals sounds good, feel a purchase coming on. I also have a concertina file for old bills/manuals etc., but now have 2 which are too bulky. Have a recipe ring binder too where I cut out recipes from magazines, very handy.

    Thanks for all the tips!

  • Wow, I love this thread and its very inspiring!

I'm am very disorganised, I do things as and when and need 24 hrs notice from visitors :rotfl:! If anyone calls in without warning I dread them coming in! :o. I have to point out that we're not dirty but are very untidy! I really need to encourage the kids to take some responsibility (aged 9 and 5)

Was anyone on here the same as me before using planners/journals? What sort of dfference has it made and how long have you been doing it for? What was your motivation?

    Hope this makes sense!

I have given in and ordered the (cult status) pocket moleskine (squared design, £6.50 free postage on ebay), looks like I will do something along these lines:
    http://aks-research.blogspot.com/2007/08/diary-moleskine-hack.html

If you type in 'moleskine hack' into google this will show you all the customisation people do to a moleskine, so it fits exactly their needs.

Thanks EagerLearner! I liked this so much I just had to get one for myself - was so excited waiting for it to arrive! I'm somewhat addicted to notebooks and lists:D, and this was new to me! I now have a large squared and large lined version and am savouring the moment to actually write in them!

    Hi all

Im just wondering how all you fellow os'ers stay organised, this year is my first time dealing with school hols, teacher training days, Summer fates, dates for this dates for that arghhhhhh (only 1 child jst started nursery)

Put on top of this all the birthdays, appoiments etc etc im going mad here lol

Now ive got a filofax but to be honest everythings in there but i forget to look at it, so im thinking of printing a monthly calender and sticking it on front of fridge and just put everything on there, so its all upfront for everyone to see ! lol

Do you run seperate calenders , diarys ? whats your system ?

Hiya, we have a cork board with a birthday list and the school holiday list, dentist appt card and repeat prescriptions. Its by the back door so its seen daily when you go in the kitchen.

Our fridge is in the dining room and on there there is a list of what needs posting (birthday cards etc) or paying cash for that month. If its on the list it has to be done!

I love lists - would be lost without them x

I use a main diary which has important events in and which I try and check every day in but I also print out a months planner and have that on the pinboard. I have tried using my phone and laptop calendar but I prefer using pen and paper.

My children are at different schools till september so have different important dates and holidays which is fun (not)

I keep a diary in my handbag so that if I am at physio, dentist or something I can put the next appointment in there and the transfer it onto the calendar when I get home I also have a birthday card box all cards are written out and put in month order so I can just post them when need to.

It can be hectic though got 3 kids, 2 at different schools and 1 at nursery and numerours hospital/Dr appointments for everyone you will find something that works for you though.
