For a very small organiser (I use mine for my to do lists and shopping lists) check out pocket mod.
http://www.pocketmod.com/
Its free and highly customisable! You say what you want to be on every page, print it out on an A4 sheet and follow the instructions to make a booklet.
Great minds think alike gemmaj, that is the site I posted to earlier, have been using mine for a week or so and it is very handy.0 -
... I currently have a gardening journal every year and note down what we plant, when it fruits or flowers etc. plus photos we take of various parts of the garden ...
You've just reminded me that some years ago I made myself a gardening journal, A4 size with various sections for plants, plans, ideas etc; it was great but I dont have a garden now so dont use it these daysI still have the files - index, section headings and pages - which could be printed and bound in a ring binder; if anyone is interested please pm me.
I also made 3 Family History registers consisting of 12 colour coded sections, with pages for census, baptism, marriage records etc. I offered a spare one on freecycle and it was very popular. I offered the files (pages and index etc) to the unsuccessful freecyclers and they all said yes please. If anyone is interested in those please pm me.
I think either of these might make a useful present... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I didn't mean I would cut everything down to one page Eagerlearner, will still have a diary etc at home, just this to carry round, I forget to stick my diary in my bag. Did you find a website for seasonal info? I think I might write that on it as well so I can check it at the shops.[/QUOTE]
Nothing yet ktpieI know plums are in season now, but will have to research and make notes. I will have to show you all my customised squared pocket Moleskine, I love Italian themes, so have done it that way :T

not sure if this has already been posted or not, but I've just found this link in my Favourites folder; loads of links for ideas and downloadables for household planners.
Enjoy!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Having bought the organisedmum diary...I'm not sure I'm really getting on with it!
I think I'll probably still use the diary part, but I'm finding that I would prefer the 'to do' lists to be bigger and I don't do weekly meal plans on set days, so I'd prefer space to just do a list of meals for the week. Space for breakfast and lunch would be good too.
The weekly schedules are small. I couldn't get my daily cleaning lists in the space provided so they've gone unused.
Also the shopping lists are tiny. I'm using 2 at a time, not sure they'll last the year!
It may sound like I'm having a right old whinge...I guess I'm admitting that I may of actually been attracted by the new & sparkley rather than spending the time 'making' something that would have been more suited for me personally.
I'm going to take a look at the links on the above post and look at perhaps making one for myself.
So, back to the drawing board of thinking about what I want/need to have in it0 -
I've just worked my way through Moggin's thread
Loads of interesting ideas..but I'm not entirely sure how to work mine yet.
Does anyone use online tools for anything. I use my laptop on the sofa, I don't have a desk so I've no idea where I would put my folder etc so it wasn't in the way or didn't get constantly fiddled with by my DH or children....
I guess I could put it in a cupboard.....
Also do people put there lists in plastic so they can tick them off and then rub off the ticks for next time?
PLASTIC SLEEVES - GREAT IDEA !!! Thankyou.:T0 -
FrankieM - I know how you feel as I have spent so much time before with diaries and systems that didn't quite fit the bill... hence making my own with a moleskine journal. My pocket one is fab so far and I am having more inspiration every week, as how to 'build' the upcoming months. For this reason, I have only 'designed' the upcoming few weeks, whilst I think about how it works best for me. Right now I have 8 months of month-at-a-glance (each month on 2 pages) in the beginning of the journal.
That section is then followed by one week on the left (6 sections Mon-Fri then the 7th is split into two for Sat/Sun), and on the right I have a 'notes' page, which is also where I write what I have spent cash on and any Action points. Whilst commuting every day I come up with more ideas, so it's going to last me until at least mid next year, for the price of a note book. Admittedly, moleskines are not cheap, but I bought 3 for the price of 2 in Waterstones last weekend as they had a deal on.MFW #185

I find Asda's Index card holder with cards quite useful. It fits easily in to my bag and has seperators for different categories. Not a full household management book, but very useful nonetheless. They are also on offer at the moment...
Sorry, not posted enough to be able to link but check out Asda Groceries online if interested.

Something I've forgotten to say to all the lovely OS'ers who wanted these, my (thermal bound) book is an inch thick so you may need a 2" ring binder to allow for pages to be turned and written on easily. The other option is to not print all the pages in every section and then you'll have a thinner pile of paper to fit.
Any probs, just pm me... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
