Thats not bad at all Toto.
I have just been given direct payments they fund 12 hours a month and an extra 4 hours a week in the holidays, and pay 8.45 an hour. its a bit of a pain in the fact i have to employ them pay tax etc, but they fund a payroll lady to do the maths.
but can i find a carer, can i heck as like.

I had the same problem, I couldn't get a carer and even when I did I couldn't get one who would stay for more that a few weeks which just upset amber. So, I phoned social services and told them I wanted to scrap this direct payments nonsense (not that I ever got any of that) and I wanted Amber to go to a place rather than an individual person. The centre she will be going to is lovely, beautiful sensory gardens and they go on trips out every weekend too. It did take a bit of a fight and originally I asked for 24 a year thinking they would knock me down to 12, if I started at 12 they would go to 6. But amazingly they agreed the 24 and I am not arguing with that :)

I would look and see if there is something similar in your area and push for that, direct payments is a headache and we have enough of those already.

    Oh yes

    Speechless!

I have just opened the mail. In there was a card addressed to fran, so I opened it thinking its another wedding invite or something we can't go to. But it was a thank you card from Amy, saying she really appreciated his work and a cheque for £1000.

For once no bookie, something nice has happened. That really does make a change doesn't it. I know why she's done it, she's worried he is leaving her, which he might be. But it was a lovely gesture all the same.
