Agreed squirrel, also when you have letters you can keep better records of the situation!
Keep a record of how often you're phoning them as it could count as harassment.

Every time they phone simply say 'I will only deal with this by post' and hang up

I tell them I don't have a phone, so they can't phone, but I am now going to do it all by letter. (they have no recent number that's connected to anything but thin air) I just can't hack this with things getting worse, and they're not even "priority". Just a flipping bank and a c/c and a phone company who can all go whistle now. I've just had enough. They take me to court, I'll tell them I tried to set stuff up, but they were abusive and unco-operative so I had no choice but to tell them to go away.

The other thing you can do is pay them the amounts you said you would anyway,they wont refuse it afterall! Then when it gets to court it looks really bad on them...

Keep a record of all the times they call, a record of all conversations, letters, offers of token payments, direct debits set up etc... This will demonstrate to any court (if it ever gats that far!) that you have been making every effort to communicate with them and pay whatever you could afford. Then the DCA will look like the bunch of idiots that they are.
