    Morning, new neighbour here :hello:

Thought I would pop by and let you all know that I am a major OS fan. It helps that the OH is one too, our latest thing we want to try is living without a fridge (keeping a freezer) and he is in his element trying to think of ways to keep milk chilled :rotfl:

Right, off to do more money saving research!

    Morning all,

I would've answered back to Haribo but I had bigger fish to fry. :D Had a lovely day with my friend. We've been great friends for 15 years. We met on tuckshop duty when both our oldest were in Year 9. Her husband was DS2's teacher at the time. I got to pick up DGS around 3pm and got home here around 4pm. Just been playing & had tea. He's sound asleep now.

Haribo I expect DH needs the rest after last night. :D
Thriftlady I always find meal times a bit lonely when DH not here.
    Smokey Kids are strange.

Well hope you all have a great day. Will have an early night. all that talking has tired me out. :D Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Hi Guys!

Had treatment yesterday, so quite queezy (sp) this morning. Feeling a little low today, but tomorrow is another day:o

The WM has been on and put in the TD as its spitting here and OH decorating, so nowhere to put it and easier for me:D DW has been on and emptied by DD. The floors need hoovering and mopping daily now with the dog, but he's worth it:rolleyes:

OH has made a fishpie for lunch and it smells delish, so hoping I can enjoy it.

I have until the end of the week to complete my next essay and I'm struggling with this one. Already had an extension too! Just cant seem to get my brain to function well atm:confused:

Decided to give the milkman another go yesterday. Wasnt a happy bunny as I had ordered 6 organic FR eggs and got caged (3) ones:eek::eek::eek: He also didnt come till 4pm again which is why I cancelled originally. Called them up and they told me to throw out the eggs and they would credit my account. I also explained about the time of deliveries and they werent very helpful.

I watched the Economy Gastronomy this morning and it was ok. I cant believe a family of 5 spend 17k on food a year:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

    (((((((Smokey))))))))

    Anyway, I am rambling.

    Hugs to all.

Am I allowed to say, that they really didn't do much money saving apart from changing from ready-made meals/take aways. Not very impressed tbh, a restaurant type meal is fine as a treat, but thought it was supposed economy!! They could have said a SC or Remeska (sp) would have done the mince without burning a ring on low, far less electric (and where were the lentils, extra veg, etc. Trying to get a kid who didn't like spicy food to have Chilli for the first meal sounded daft, getting him on board with the Mac Cheese would have made more sense, and she was whittling on about time to do it, and then said they would save as much as she earnt, and her job was on the line so that is why the wanted to look at economising. eh!!!

    Sorry rant over!

LV I completely sympathise with you over the trees. I'd be feeling exactly the same.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if councils and property developers planted fruit trees instead of ornamental trees? After all fruit trees are ornamental as well as useful. Just imagine if our residential streets were lined with apple trees, plum trees, damsons, quinces, pears, cherries. There'd be lovely pink and white blossom in the spring and gorgeous fuit in the summer and autumn for everyone. Instead of boring shrubs in the parks we could have fruit bushes -currants, gooseberries and raspberries. Wouldn't that be great?

Thriftlady YES! Imagine if they were all native varieties as well, I think it was a River Cottage prog I watched last week where local people (forgot the area though) went guerilla veg planting and all the locals could pick the veg and herbs to use. It would be nice to have a source of free neighbourhood fruit, lots of old people near me, if that happened I could make them chutney and distribute it, although the drated elf n safety would no doubt put the mockers on that. We keep being told we have to grow more of our own veg instead of importing, if only local councils helped to provide more fruit and veg and set up neighbourhood grow schemes. Next year I'm going to have a go at growing some veggies of my own, already grow herbs, time to branch out and save money. Hmmm now wondering if I could plant some goodies on the island where the willow trees once were, wonder if any of the neighbours would join me? Worth a shot and I feel loads better now, thanks Thriftlady :)

    Warning - Proud Mum Moment

Just spoken to DS on the phone, I need to go shopping he said and get my holiday/festival washing done, I have loads. I pointed out Aldi salad stuff was on offer this week. He said, I can walk to Lidl Mum, and I do most of my shopping there now, only calling in Tesco/Sainsbury's for the odd treat! I get most of my fruit and veg there, pasta rice, etc.:j:j:j:j:j

That's my Boy! - his Grandma (my Mum) would have very proud of him, being youngest of 9 she was very OS & MS, even though Dad had a good job she couldn't change her ways.

Thrift what a wonderful idea:beer: but I have a feeling anything with blossom would run the risk of the elf n safety freaks...case anyone slipped on it.As if anyone should be suing the council for nature's effects...

    Afternoon all

Gentle (((HUGS))) for Scuzz and Beemuzed's respective pooches.

Not a lot happening in the Wolf's Lair today - I simply can't seem to get going. I expect it's because it's so empty now that Molly-Dog's gone home, and Mr LW is at w*rk today. He's on late shift as well, so won't be in til 19:00 at the earliest.

He helped me colour my hair last night, and we had a bit of a shock when I mixed the colour and it looked green in the bottle. It's my usual brand, and I've never seen it look like that before. So, we carried on regardless, and it has turned out the expected shade, so that's OK. But it seemed a bit weird. Perhaps they've changed the formulation.

Mr LW phoned me a short while ago; our new bed will be arriving on Wednesday 19th. He's asked for that day because he'll be on early shift, w*rking from home, so I won't have to deal with the delivery men. I know it's stupid, but I get very nervous about dealing with workmen/delivery men/etc.

I shall be looking forward to greatly improved comfort at night! Just got to wait to hear when the new sofa's coming now.:o

Pen-Pin hope you feel a bit better.

((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today.

  • Squiggly - I was going to suggest as Mioliere did - put the BM on Ebay as a 'buyer collects' - I've sold an old cooker & hob and a tent that way and it was fine - you can also ask for cash on collection too and save paypal fees!

N9eav - hope you find the tortoises soon - especially the ones which need special care. Can't say your job lacks variety can you?!

Won't go into the MW appt now- it would take too long! Suffice it to say it was a c**k-up all around, dates, times, computers etc, but I did get seen in the end and all the relevant info recorded eventually. I'm going to be 'consultant-led' apparantly, due to my history and that it is a 'miracle' (IVF) baby. As it's my 1st I'm not sure what difference this will make, but I assume they will keep a closer eye on me!

Well, I didn't get all the way through the freezer & cupboard inventory last nite, but I did manage to meal-plan for a week, and cook tea last nite OK, so that is an improvement. Also remembered to put the BM on so DH had a loaf to take to work (he's had to go to the bakery a few times in the last couple of weeks - naughty me!). Nausea not bad at all at the moment, but sooooo tired I could just sleep at my desk now!

Tonight's tea will be sweet & sour pork & pineapple rice, as we haven't had it for ages and DH has missed it...

Just had news on my Dad - he's only got another week to go of his 28 days in the secure unit, but they have decided he needs further assessment (he is so up & down I don't think they can get a handle on him) so are recommending an OAP home which has a unit of 10 secure bedrooms for mental health patients, for up to a month each. It's further away, but Mum can probably get there on a bus, which would be better for her. He was not at all good on Sunday when we saw him - he spent the 1st 30 minutes shouting and demanding we take him home immediately! After that he calmed down and we did some word-puzzles together, which he enoys, but he's still very confused and not really in a state where Mum can carry on looking after him on her own. It is just so sad.

Anyhow - hope everyone having a good day and enjoying some sunshine! Wish I was out in it, but stuck in wo*k I'm afraid with a ton of tedious paperwork to do!

    All the best,

    FE
