Along time since I last posted but I am trying to reinvent my OS roots. Spent the last few days freezing, jamming and the like, just got to get some more toms for marrow and tom chutney and then I think I am back on track. Got my friend and her five year old round for lunch, so manically trying to clean, tidy up and do diy all at the same time.
However hit a puzzle - what do you use as OS metal polish (mainly for copper as I seem to have a thing for it).
OH wel Bathroom to hit now and hopefully reupholste another seat before eleven and another cup of tea.
(I feel really harassed and as hough i am acheivig nothing on my little cottage at the moment which is really depressing)0 -
LV I completely sympathise with you over the trees. I'd be feeling exactly the same.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if councils and property developers planted fruit trees instead of ornamental trees? After all fruit trees are ornamental as well as useful. Just imagine if our residential streets were lined with apple trees, plum trees, damsons, quinces, pears, cherries. There'd be lovely pink and white blossom in the spring and gorgeous fuit in the summer and autumn for everyone. Instead of boring shrubs in the parks we could have fruit bushes -currants, gooseberries and raspberries. Wouldn't that be great?0 -
Good morning all!
Glorious sunshine here, so the washing that got rained on last night is now almost dry!
OS stuff today will involve a quick hoover, a S&S for the kitchen, more washing and pegging out and cooking something quick for tea - not sure what as forgot to do a meal plan, best get on with that as well!
Off out to a friend's house with the girls today, so they can play out in the garden whilst we catch up.
Hugs to all and have a good day xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

Morning everyone
:hello: Welcome Randomer - have no illusions, we are not perfect (though some may think they are :rotfl:) and not everything works out right.
 Oldies, lurkers, MIA's
Also suffering from get up and go has got up and gone syndrome. I worked up to 70 hours a week at one stage and coped with teenage son and his tennis addition, but had more time then than now :rotfl:
:grouphug: to those not feeling on top of the world.
Smoky glad LO is fine now, worrying though.
H-J I was waiting for Aussie's response. - enjoyed that.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -

Morning all :hello:
Had a lovely start to the morning with nutella and toast and the entire contents of the fruit bowl chopped up and brought to me in bed by the girlies.
I shall be regular as clockwork for a few days. _pale_
OH has taken today off but hasn't surfaced yet so I am chilling out too. Girls are making doll cots out of shoe boxes. Did I mention that I spent £70 on 2 pairs of school shoes for them last week?
It's been raining this morning but has stopped now so I'll pop into the garden in a minute. House is pretty clean but I am aware of clutter lurking in cupboards.
Our house has 3 external doors onto the garden and they are all open all summer, even in the rain, so our house feels much bigger in the summer. When winter is looming, I get twitchy about decluttering as I hate the house feeling cramped when all those doors get closed. Makes sense to me anyway. :rotfl:
Tea tonight will be leftover lamb from sunday turned into rissoles with some cumin and coriander, baked spuds and salad.
I think I welcomed you last week Randomer but welcome again :hello:
The freezer meat (particularly the chicken) sounds like great value to me Thriftlady.
Smoky, kids are amazing. One of mine once vomited violently in the middle of eating a packet of crisps but still managed to finish them.
:rotfl:
Take care

Hi, I've been doing quite well (for me) on OS things this week. We had a roast chicken on Sunday, with potatoes, french beans & courgettes from the garden. French beans were so fresh they squeaked!
I made chicken stock last night for the first time ever. It isn't clear though, it is cloudy, I had expected it to be clear. Hopefully it won't affect the flavour ; it smelt so good last night whilst it was simmering away gently. I could have had a bowl there and then.
Tonight we are having pasta with a chicken and HM tomato pasta sauce (with added cougettes) from the Gill Holcombe book. Then I'll use the rest of the cooked chicken in the soup. I'm feeling very smug with my rubber chicken!
On Sunday I also made a big batch of carrot & courgette soup (I have to use them up somehow) so I have a good supply of soup in my freezer.
I have also been flyladying, and my kitchen os spotless and clutter-free. It looks huge. Now if only the rest of the house was like that.....Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

The stock is usually cloudy so don't worry. Sounds like you've got this OS malarky licked. :A:D;)0 -
Morning all
Hubby's has his breakfast & is now at work so peace reigns for a while.
Smoky if you find the vodka & gin don't get rid of the smell, then try drinking it, them you won't care about the smell, lol, glad to hear LO is better, kids do tend to bounce back, mine use to bounce back so quickly, they would be fine & I'd still be trying to recover from the lack of sleep.
Plan for today, blitz last bed room & carry on sorting out the pc. Tea will be stuffed marrow, I make up a mixture of minced beef, tinned toms, rice & seasonings, throw it all together add stock, cover with foil & throw it in the oven.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.
