Gutted, clicked on something and my mammoth post shut down.
We are seeing the vicar for the first time on Friday, what do we need to ask, take, discuss beforehand etc?
Hoping to get an idea on timings after the meeting. Sit down for meal no later than 4.30pm, we are leaving an hour for photographer. We have canapes for guests, should we have them available for before the service or between service and photos? What are your timings like?
Had a few hassles with my bridesmaid, my deleted post was more in depth but writing it has made me stressed again so will shorten it. Sis put deposit on dress without showing me the final design from the dressmaker. It is not a traditional style, short and flowing so she is comfortable and can wear again. It is like this but pale pink and has straps http://www.coast-stores.com///coast/fcp-product/2224681606#GBP what are you opinions? What sort of shoes would you suggest? I am reluctant to allow her too much say after the weekend. The parting line when I left to my mum "OH and I have the final say on EVERYTHING!"
Band still not sorted. Emailed a few new ones and one entertainment company, hopefully will get something back soon.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Hey Ajmoney, good for you on the BM dress, I think it's pretty and can definately be worn again, you don't say in the post what the problems have been but I do like the dress.
We still have to my sisters BM dress, the one we saw this weekend was way over budget. Seeing someone about wedding car this weekend, were quoted £325 for a vintage bus liked the idea and thought we'd push the boat out but we've had some negative reactions from people saying they'd rather take cars/taxis so we're looking at a nice car instead just for me and H2B. Others have also said that I should arrange a car for BM and Mum, and other close family but taxis are more MSE and I've taken to saying 'I don't care if it's traditional, we're doing it this way instead!' haha
Lovely lady coming this weekend for my makeup, the only hairdresser I like charges £50 for a trial and £100 on the day (eek!) so gonna have to shop around, no way I can pay for Mum and Sisters too!0 -

I did in my original post that I lost  Sis had found this dress which is the style I had in mind. She went to try it on (I only saw photos) but she is very busty so was between sizes which looked wrong in different places. Heard of this shop that design dresses so was going to find out how much it would cost (£50 more than the shop) but rang me later to say the dress had been designed and a deposit paid without me seeing the sketches. Have emailed to find out about seeing the design to double check it. The woman is making a mock up dress for her to try ad then matching the colour with our scheme but she has arranged the appointment for a time that I will struggle to get there for. It might sound trivial but I wasn't consulted, this is typical of my sister.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

hey just wanted to say that I hope the dress works out well, can't believe your sister!
me and my OH have now got the church, the reception venue hire, the food, the invites, wedding ring for me, my dress, OH's suit hire, 3 x bridesmaids dresses, 3 bridesmaids x shoes (£65 irregular choice shoes reduced to £45, plus student discount ) photographer, garter, and music equipment hire and are up to £2800 for everything!
only need our son's pageboy suit, partner's wedding ring, flowers and my wedding shoes, veil and bag and I think we're all set :T
We sorted our wedding transport too - having a london style cab with just married on the back, the ribbons on the front and flowers in it, taking me and my party to the church then me and OH to the venue afterwards and its only costing £30!
getting quite excited now, only 5 months to go!0 -
What a joke cheek! Not trivial at all, sisters are hard aren't they, mine is relectantly agreeing to be my bridesmaid, I wasn't holding a gun to her head but she made me sweat before saying 'I suppose so'! Fingers crossed you'll like the mock up, maybe insist on being there and she'll have to rearrange the appointment to suit you, are you paying for the dress?0

She is paying for the dress. I had been planning on using some of the money from my dad to pay for all the dresses but she announced to my mum that she is paying for them (she still hasn't told me). I have reminded them that if I can't get there to see the mock up that there are such things as webcams and I expect to be watching. If she doesn't ok the dress with me she won't be wearing it at the wedding. I have also warned my mum that if she can't comply then she won't be a bridesmaid. Harsh but if she is going to make these decisions then she can suffer the consequences.
Organised the hairdresser yesterday. OHs niece (a hairdresser) is doing mine as a wedding present and my mum and sister for £20 each. MSE and probably the only thing that is at our wedding.
I should be able to update a lot on wedding details by the end of the weekend.

Went to pick up rings but didn't have enough cash on discount cards so going back next week to pay the rest.
After a bit of confusion on colour OH (possibly reluctantly) and I have decided on the pink for the bridesmaid dresses and got some ribbon so NO ONE can say they didn't know...especially my sister.
We have decided on the whole kilt package and will probably pop in tomorrow if we can get everyone's measurements.
We have a cake for my folks to try.
Saw the vicar, didn't feel particularly comfortable but hopefully that will pass. OH thought he got better towards the end so that is a sign. He hasn't got a problem with marrying us, I was worried because OH is divorced so that is a relief. He has given us a full ceremony breakdown and is going to email an order of service that we can adapt for ours. Initially he said he wouldn't take any money and would just ask for a contribution to petrol, today he said he wouldn't want anything. He is staying for the meal and said that was enough. We have come to a compromise even though it may cost more and are paying for a room at the hotel so he can stay over.
After speaking to him about registrars etc we popped to the registry office to ask what we need to do and when. We got all the paperwork with a guide to filling it in. They said to make an appointment early in May to get it all sorted.
I guess that is all the important stuff doneMFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Had my makeup trial today, I love it! I've gone for something a bit different, a quite dramatic plum eye but I can carry it off as it's got a bit of pearl in it, and soft pinky lipstick and blush, the MAC girl was amazing, really put my mind at rest and I've swanned around all day looking in mirrors (also, I haven't had much to eat or drink cos I wanted to show OH who was working late!)
Just need a hairdresser now!
MIL and DIL to be coming round tonight, can't wait to show them our handmade wishing tree, will get a pic for on here too, would like some advice!0 -
I am feeling utterly relieved. We have a band for the wedding and it is the one we wanted. Had an email from them asking if we still wanted them as they had another possible booking. I replied saying I was waiting to hear from another member who was trying to do something on the price, he came back with a quote £250 less
I am assuming he spoke to the other guy as funnily enough the quote is cheaper than the other band quote we had...and relax
So far on the road to our wedding:
Deposit paid to venue
Vicar booked and met
Dress chosen and deposit paid
Guest list made out
Warning emails/phone calls made to let everyone know of date
Reserve enough rooms for out of town guests
Wedding rings chosen and deposit paid
Venue decorator booked and deposit paid
Florist booked and deposit paid
Photographer booked and deposit paid
Band provisionally booked, need to send deposit
Deposit paid on 1 BM dress
Colour sample for BM dresses given to everyone who needs it
Decided on 1 reading for ceremony
Ordered replacement birth certificate for OH
Got paperwork from registry office
Hairdresser booked
Still to do
Decide which make up quote to go with
Pay rest of balance on rings and pick up
Arrange meeting with hotel
Order invitations
Order favours
Change my passport
Order cake (going with M&S so don't have to do this yet)
Our budget has gone beyond where we expected because we have extended our guest list. However with my dad's contribution and one coming from OHs dad we are still contributing the same amount ourselves. Also we have over budgetted on a few things so it may be lower still, especially if not all the guests come.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200
