Well maybe the OP has purchased the car as today I was sitting in traffic and looked to my right and there was a BRIGHT YELLOW SEAT in the next lane:rotfl::rotfl: I was laughing like a drain to myself and the other drivers must have thought I had lost the plot:rotfl::rotfl: Then again it was 7.45am and as I'm female they probably thought it was par for the course:A:A:j I have a persecution complex. Everytime I pass a shoe shop they persecute me till I buy them:j0

I have just noticed that as far as I can see "nicnacnoo" has thanked every post on this thread.
Now I thanked you as well:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Especially as you like Jeremy Clarkson as so do I. He is very witty and beneath that gruff exterior seems like a really nice Man.
I read somewhere that he was buying his Mum a new car and he was thinking what her fav colour was, he then realised she always wore a pale pearly pink Nail Varnish and so he had a her a Car in that colour:A The colour might not be everyones taste:rolleyes: but how touched must his Mum have been.:A:j I have a persecution complex. Everytime I pass a shoe shop they persecute me till I buy them:j0 -

If not did you try drivethedeal or dealdrivers - some very good new car prices to be had - you can spec them as you want.Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0 -

My MIL has a yellow VW Beetle that she bought for that very reason."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -
I can't believe this thread is still going.0

OP - if he has £21k in savings he needs to use these. If he has a £11k debt and is walking in with £21k as a deposit, the bank will COMPLETELY ignore £11k of that £21k, meaning he effectively only has a deposit of £10k. We went for some mortgage advice recently and were told if we had any debts to go away and pay those off before they ran a credit check on us, as it would be a waste of time if we had more than a couple of hundred on a credit card. So for the love of Christ don't pay £5k in interest when you don't have to (no abuse or questioning of the decisions, pure money saving to save your OH £5k)Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off0 -
I've read the whole post and at times it has been comical, at times very harsh on the OP but the advice was there and I completely agree with it.
The MSE way is to save money so if the car can be bought outright why on earth take a loan and pay thousands in interest, it's just a waste.
I recently bought a new car on a cheapy deal through the scrappage scheme and was only interested in getting the best out of it so when they offered me finance that would cost me £2800 I laughed and said no way. Why save £2000 on scrappage and pay £2800 in finance effectively losing £800 that I would not have spent otherwise.
I for one could not care less what car the OP's OH wants to get or the colour as it just comes down to basic money saving, also I would have thought that just going to the best loan rates/comparisons or money supermarket would have answered the question. I'm sure there are a few companies doing 7.9% APR loans at the moment such as Nationwide and Sainsbury etc.0
