You are a funny one. I was trying to help with a solution. The fashion threads upset OS even though most of you are talking about last years fashions etc so could be thought of as old style. The obvious place for your threads is really the arms but I wouldnt think many of you would like it down there. On the whole of MSE there are very few daily threads possibly because most people can read the date on the top of the post.

Eh?! What are you talking about?! We're talking about last year's fashion, so the threads could be classed as Old Style?! I really don't think you understand the concept of the Old Style board...

Anyway. This sub-board is called Health, Beauty and Fashion. Fashion chat belongs here, not the Arms, whether you like it or not. I think you should bow out gracefully like GoToChange has done, because you're clearly flogging a dead horse.

You know what - I can't help myself...........!

    1. It is NOW called Fashion - and you know what else? That is largely because I "caused a fuss" when all these threads started "clogging up" (yes, I know, a matter of opinion) what was previously the Health & Beauty Board.

    2. I smile to myself when I realise that there is a little egg on my face with regards to that...

    3. It is the NUMBER, not the presence. Ideally (and only of course in MY OPINION [and maybe others who simply don't say anything], they would have been/be gathered together (for example, there are TWO daily ones today - someone's not keeping their wits about them).

    4. Absolute bounder should not be told to follow my lead - that is the aboslute LAST reason that I would bow out - for it to be used as an example and I am furious that it has been. (ab- feel free to ignore and do whatever you want to do; you won't be the only one.)

    5. I know it's a popular saying - but I hate the flogging a dead horse analogy icon9.gif (Only kidding, but it's a little close to home for me.)

    6. There are maximum two very long threads relating to depression - if every time someone wanted to raise a new issue, a new thread started, I would say the same thing. The depression threads manage(d? - not sure what's happening nowadays as sone people ARE posting less) in that manner, I fail to see why the fashion threads can't be similar.

I am only posting because my action as some kind of stick to beat ab with and don't like it. To repeat, that was not my intention. I don't doubt that the threads will survive anything that I or ab say - either on the thread or to the powers-that-be.

Can I just clear up something. The original thread didn't upset OS. Sharron who I think started the thread by her own admission suggested they move somewhere else as it was turning into something other than OS.

As for two daily threads.......!!!!!! these threads can be merged so please don't sit on your high horse as if you've never made a mistake.

I am thoroughly disgusted at the childish remarks being made because some of you don't like "fashion". Well I don't agree with the Cambridge diet but I don't break out my wooden spoon and start stirring it up on there. There is plenty of space on this board for everyone. Its really disappointing that people are so possessive about a board they don't even own or control. Mr Lewis et al decides who and what goes where. The question was raised and the decision made to keep the clothes threads here. If you don't like it I would suggest you stop picking on the ladies (and gents if there are any) who don't control these decisions and take it up with Martin and the team.
I don't even post on the daily fashion thread but I don't see why there can't be a daily thread for it. You change your clothes everyday so why not a daily thread. It works perfectly well over on OS so why can't it work here?

The taunts and snide remarks smack of bulling and not leg pulling anymore. Its not funny, its not big and it's not clever.

But what has to be accepted is that we did not ASK to be placed here - the original question was for a Fashion board - it was not our decision to have the Fashion threads here.

If anyone has any issue with the fashion threads being on the Health Beauty & Fashion Board, then PLEASE take it up with the board guides and communicate your unhappiness to Martin via the Suggestions route. We cannot change where our threads sit - we did not ask to be put here.

And TBH, (and this is MY personal opinion - which I am just as entitled to state as absolutebounder, GotToChange and anyone else on MSE) I am now feeling like I would rather not bother posting at all, if that is the way that the regular posters on the Health board make anyone not interested in Health feel.

It may be felt that a small victory has been won in a war to get rid of the fashion threads by alienating regular posters, but despite what has been said previously it is bullying in a mild form, insidious, snide and nagging comments about us not belonging here - who gave ANYONE the right to say that we should be anywhere else but where we have been put by those who run the site??

Oh, goodness me. I didn't mean to upset you! I read a comment made by you stating you were through with posting about this issue - that's why I said' you'd 'bowed out gracefully'. I actually think that's rather a compliment on your part - if I'm honest, there's been nothing graceful about it. I said what I did because I do feel you are flogging a dead horse, whether you like that expression or not. You're bringing up the same tired points - we've been through it a million times, the fashion threads belong here, they will stay here. Like Bitsy Beans says, it's not our choice that they're here, it's the board admins'. Take it up with them if you have a problem.

Maybe you shouldn't keep claiming you're 'done' with this topic, if you feel the need to constantly comment? You've said quite a few times that this is your 'last post' on the matter, yet you keep coming back for more. Stop shooting yourself in the foot - I won't be saying I'm through with the topic, because I'm quite sure we'll be talking about it for a bit longer yet!

Bounders subtlety with words sometimes confuses the hell out of me but even I got that one. You lot really need to lighten up and stop worryiing about precious egos.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Depression is an interesting condition and I do a fair bit of work with it. There are two threads relating to it and they are of a different nature. Mine is for the minority who wish to get back to work or at least get better. It affects something like 6X as many women as men. This I think is partly because women are more into social acceptance and some will sacrifice their values to the opinion of others. ....

haven't read the rest of the thread, but I agree with some of this absolute bounder. Its nice to have some common ground. However, its also common for people to stop giving a damn when they are depressed, and making the effort to get up and get dressed and to feel less depressed about appearance can be useful. I do not suffer from depression but close family do: I've come to recognise the slipping in personal presentation as an indicator of how they are feeling. I feel the ''fashion'' emphasis rather than the comments I made when this conflict seemed to begin: that an emphasis could be added on MSE well turned out, repairs, home beauty: what we can do daily to look better for less.

I also feel that how we present ourselves can make a difference, albeit that may well be a sad reflection on society, on how succesful we are, in job interviews, in keeping a job, etc :simply in life: as such, as well a being lifestyle enhancing, looking good can indeed be Money saving.

I also agree, with gottochange (though the irony of the name in these threads always tickles me) that we don't need daily short threads, which is why I keep chipping in to sugest a longer, but less frequent weekly thread. :o I think this would show some comprimise from us, and need not interfere with what we post daily. :)

Yes, I got the 'joke'. What I didn't understand was the logic.

No-one has ever wanted the fashion thread (s?) to not exist - however, they did start appearing on the Health & Beauty board BEFORE the title was amended. The number of different threads started by and contributed to by the same group was what seemed a bit overwhelming; THAT is why I had an issue. It may well be only me; equally, there may be others who aren't as outspoken as I am who said nothing but felt /feel the same way.

This was and is regardless of the content, which is not to my particular taste - but then I don't like this current trend of revealing the minutiae of one's life to virtual strangers and the world at large anyway. I do believe though in each to their own but to me it seemed that all the fashion threads were taking over and I admit that I did feel the need to say something. They could have been gathered together in the same way that several other topics have been; the fact that I mentioned it and the net result was that the Fashion threads' presence on the H&B board was sanctioned could be seen as back-firing on me. What I would say though is that it is actually up to the posters to rein the threads in into one or two major threads - again, as in the "Depression" threads. Just good sense and forum manners in my opinion - otherwise they can spread like bindweed.

If anything that I have said is deemed to be bullying, then those who see it that way must have led very sheltered lives.

Sorry but that is the most ridiculous bit of nit picking I've seen.
No board existed for these sorts of clothes threads, it started on OS, moved to Marriage and Relationships and then to H&B. If clothes and fashion aren't in some way related to "beauty" then I don't l know what is.
