Told my co-organisers about absolutebounder's comments yesterday and they wet themselves laughing. Our events are run by us as fans for fans of certain tv cult prgrammes and have run them since 2002. If we were not professional we would not still be in business nor would the actors of these shows attend.

Anyway not here to start a row with anyone so have a great weekend peeps

  • I suppose there are Events and Events.........
    This is very true
why do you have to be so critical absoloutebounder??????? I was reading your thread the other day about depession where you ask other people to be nice, and not be rude, so can you please apply some of that on this board PLEASE???

And for gawds sake tell us what your wearing, you know you want to:) all this playing hard to get is getting a tad borrrrrring now!!!

    Sharron

I think it is a big mistake here to allow fashion threads on this board. It was previously about health and beauty but fashion has very little to do with either apart from thye materialistic envy that fashion can cause may be negative for ones health.

Depression is an interesting condition and I do a fair bit of work with it. There are two threads relating to it and they are of a different nature. Mine is for the minority who wish to get back to work or at least get better. It affects something like 6X as many women as men. This I think is partly because women are more into social acceptance and some will sacrifice their values to the opinion of others. this is largely what fashion is about. we are told what is fashion by others we see higher up the scale or in reality by others who see themselves farther up the scale. This is not good at all. In all honesty people shoukldnt really give a stuff what others are wearing on a daily basis even more so when they cant see them and dont know them.

I am not against another board for fashion but I like many others am extremely visual and whenever people post what they are wearing I probably create the wrong visuals and think oh my god the sort of woman I saw at one o clock outside the pub the other night. If you were to post pictures then it might be a bit better but there is already a couple of threads on the arms.
For example. Many people wear leggings. These can look good but the majority of the women I see in them look aweful so that is my dominant vision.

I think there should be further nagging of the boss to allow a fashion board on its own although I might have to find another place for humourous writing:rotfl:

I'll quote my response to Sharron's post yesterday, while we're on the subject.

QUOTE>>>Ooohh , yes, Sharron, I read bounders opening post on the depressively optimistic moneysaving thread too and thought what a supportive person he sounded!

I do so hope none of the folk who post on the depression thread are ever at the receiving end of some of his posts on here. I know one of the ladies from there has posted a problem on the Fashion threads and was really pleased with the response she got.

That's the problem on a forum, , you really don't know how unkind (tongue in cheek or otherwise) words might affect the individual they're directed towards and lower the mood of others who previously, might have been enjoying a light-hearted thread.] QUOTE

Of course, everything you have just stated is your own opinion, to which you are rightly entitled. However forcing your views on others in the way you have been, by disrupting threads and posting unkind comments is unfair. People are entitled to post here in this way, whether others like it or not. You should be directing your irritation at the Site Suggestions Board or directly to Martin.

Anyway, must sign off now, I have a quiche to take out of the oven ;).

It's when you say "I'm not going to post anymore" and then proceed to post several more times that confuses the whatever out of us!! :rotfl:
