Ta Pobby. Sent a cheque to egg today - read in Martins book that the first few months after you begin to live you r life on a budget is tough (not exact words but near as damn it) and thats how i feel. I actually feel worse off at the moment and feel im living more hand to mouth than i was before!!

Pre-lightbulb moment - hardly missed DD's at end of month - have missed them 2 times since!! Maybe im trying to run before i can walk and catch up to quickly but i so want to be free of this burden!!

Any tips from people who have been/are in this transition period as i am ????

It takes time dotty! Even now I wouldn't say I'm 100% on top of things. I'm still not budgeting for things like Xmas or car insurance, service!

    You are doing great though. Just remember all the old sayings;

Rome wasn't built in a day

From small acorns, might oaks do grow

    One step at a time

They are all wise words and are so true to our plights! :D

    Keep it going hun! :)

Id say your about where I was about 5 weeks ago, no matter how hard you try, the payments just bounce. Happened to me, I was gutted.
But this month, I feel more relaxed about it now, and everything is coming out and shouldnt bounce, as long as I dont draw out more than a tenner before friday, payday.

When I get paid, Im gonna think about what else can be cut back on, cos Im feeling a bit on my laurels. I think its just time, and bits & pieces, see in my sig, that annoying £2.odd . Ive budgeted for that to come off my b/card tomorrow. Bit sad really, but it will seem a bit better for me somehow!! Such a piddling amount!!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Thanks you guys. It beggars belief really that once you are actually doing something about your spending habits and reducing your debts that you should be in a worse position that before!! Strange but true (well in my case anyhow)!!

However I suppose it takes time for th changes to start showing i.e i have been budgeting to pay £10 onto my BT account payment card and have paid on £60 so far, as the last bill was £160 and it was a struggle to find all that at once - at least this way if i continue the way i am then there wont be such a shocker of a bill to be paid when the next one comes round!!

I suppose ive just got to keep plodding on - its hard to try to pay of debts, live and save for things like christmas etc.....however, this is always a major worry for me as me and Oh have 6 kids betweeen us, and of course other family too - so it's always an expensive time -this is one thing i am determined to try to save for !!

Anyhow - catch up later - bye for now - dottyanne...xx

It does take time for the changes to start showing, you are doing SOOOOOO well though & wont be long before you are on top of everything & are reaping the rewards!! Look back to your original SOA and see how things have changed? Are all of your debts/arrears under control now? Hows business?

In terms of Christmas, start looking for bargains now. Perhaps lower your budget for each person, I know its difficult when it comes to kids, but they'll understand I am sure as things will be better for them in the long run?

    Keep up the good work.xx

Thanks ms_london. I'm going to do an updated SOA soon - perhaps at the end of this month?? By then it will be 2 months since i started as a DFW - it does, however, seem a hellovalot longer!!!!!:rotfl:

I suppose I have good and bad day's and am learning constantly about money.

One thing tho - last week paid £100 of OH CC (was in arrears they requested £97.30 to be paid) so I paid the £100, in the meantime got a letter from Debitas Legal Services to say as we defaulted (was Capital One by the way) they were taking over the account - anyhow wrote to Debitas and Capital One stating that I had paid and they had cashed it - this morning received another letter off Debitas to say they were sending an agent round !!! Dont want that at all - any advice?? Should I pay Capital One direct?? what can we do??
