Not too abd today - saturday is usually mental but has just ticked over today to be honest, our accountant is a total waste of space and when he has completed the books (from last June that i took up to his house) whish due to an ulcer he had has still not done i will be getting a new accountant to go through this years books..........i think you were lucky with your accountant - i may feel a little better about things financially if i had better advice - how did your wife find she managed doing all the finances - being in debt personally and having to sort those bills out ASWELL as business debts/bills is really getting me down - i dont think im any good at it at all!!!!

Well I think doing the books was a steep learning curve for my wife but she did really well @ it.I think it something that you get into also we were shown how to do it,which really your accountant should do for you.We didn`t use a computer, maybe that`s a help----lol.Also we had young staff which my wife would sort out.I`m a crap man manager `cause I always end up as mates with them. When I was your age I was a slaes director of a small firm, again I ended up as mates with my reps!

I think that because things were buzzing in the early years we did`nt worry too much about debt.In 1992 our mortgage was about £750 a month, quite a bit then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Then rent, staff and all the other stuff----phew!!!!!!!!Oh yea,and we were in negative equity. So there ya go,but I think you are going to be fine because you seem to have a handle on this.Think you should sort out yoor accountant though.Regards to other half!

Thanks Pobby it really does help me to have a comparison from you and to hear your story and opinion - it means a great deal to me. I think were struggling at the moment doe not to business bills and debts but personal ones - like i said before we were s/e it wasnt an issue as in i didnt think about the debts at all - it was only when i realised that we may struggle to pay some of them it did become a real issue to me.
Just wish i could be REALLY organised and get into a manageable routine. From what others have said on here it can take a few months to do this so im gonna keep plodding on - how much debt were you in if you dont mind me asking and what steps helped you to get out ???

    Dotty,

I know you are plodding away, and good for you. How is the ebay shop doing?

Is there any chance of more cleaning or something to deal with your personal side of the finances? Or another job?

I am trying to go through more things to sell personally on e-bay as the shops not really done anything on there yet, ive not listed everything i want to put on as yet so no doubt when its completley done i will see a turn around.

Positive side, paid £100 to capital one (OH) and £120 to barclaycard (OH) which were both in arrears - gonna try to pay the Egg Loan this week is possible. Just feels 1 step forward and 2 back at the moment!!

    Depressed big time :-(

Hey hun, try not to be depressed - you are doing SOOOOOOOO well!! You should be really proud of yourself. It takes time to get yourself straight let alone hammering away at the debts, so dont be too hard on yourself!! If you cant afford the renegotiated payments with your creditors, get back on the phone to them & see if you can reduce the payments again - you do need an adequate amount of money to live on!! Big hugs - you are doing a fab job so dont despair. xxxx

Hiya ms_london - great to hear from you!! Thanks for your kind words - I know its taken a while to get into this mess and therefore it will take me at least the same amount of time to get out. I have changed my attitude towards money in a big way. Its just a constant struggle at the moment although i have taken loads of positive steps to becoming Debt Free. Was only thinking this morning that since joining here I hae started to take notice of APR etc where i never gave them a second thought before - I wonder how many other people are STILL living their lives in a state of oblivion??

I see by your sig that you had £19K of debt and youve done amazingly to clear all that - I wish I was in that position now...........hopefully one day soon eh!!!!

Wrote a letter and posted today to bank as last month they took £190 in 2 days for returned DD charges - i obviously rang to complain and the woman at the branch said they would look into it etc - never heard a sausage so this morning on way to school posted the letter to ask for these charges back - when youre trying to be DFW £190 is a lot!! plus it will pay most of my Egg Loan that still needs to be caught up with!! Lets see what they come back with today eh??

Dont count on the money as it might take a while to come through, but see it as a bonus when it does!! Thanks for your message yesterday - you will be debt free soon, the time really does fly - and you are doing amazingly well!! Have a nice day.xx
